Alabama - loss but not by much, wish Mike Dubose was still coach of the Tide.

Tennessee - loss, I think we can move the ball on these guys but utk's offense will be hard for any defense to stop much less Middle Tennessee's defense.

Kentucky - a toss-up talent wise, i think Middle Tennessee wins this one in what will be perceived as an upset-I'm not so sure.

Does anyone remember the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament in 1982? Middle Tennessee won its biggest basketball victory ever in defeating the $EC Champs 50-44 in a game that was not as close as the score indicates.

Vandy - the commode odors will be out for revenge and there will be a lot of trash talk by little vu fans in the weeks leading up to the game, plus vandy has an open date before the big game with the Raiders. Raiders have the better talent in just their fourth year of 1A, but when we win again, it will be infuriating that some in the media will still consider it an upset.

At 2-2 we end up with more wins in the $EC than either vandy or Kentucky.

Alabama - MT earns it first really big win here. Andrico Hines, MT's new QB, impresses w/ his performance, slicing through Bama's secondary with seemingly ease whenever MT decided to pass. Before the game, everyone will be talking about Bama's option attack, but after the game, the talk will be about MT's surprise offensive scheme - the option... and how well it worked against Bama. Hickes rushes for 175 yds and 3 TD's, propelling him to near the front in the Heisman talk.

Tennessee - A high scoring affair... on MT's part. MT comes out like last year with a very balanced attack. Clausen/Washington are relied upon early to chase MT's explosive offense, but they fail to deliver. MT's DBs get 4 picks in this one. Hicks rushes for 156 yds, and people are now comparing Andrico Hines to Tee Martin and Dwone Hicks to Travis Henry because of how he punishes the defensive players w/ his punishing hits.

Kentucky - Kentucky is ready for this one. After watching game film from the first two MT games, the Wildcat D is ready for the MT offense. Fortunately, MT still comes away from Lexington with a W because Kentucky still lacks that killer instinct and Lorenzen proves ineffective that day. Because the game is so close, this humbles the MT team, who had began to think they were among the college "elite". This game brings them back down to earth, setting them up to run the tables the rest of the season.

Vanderbilt - The new coach will inspire this team and Vandy will win more this year than the past few years combined. MT, however, still takes this one because of the "mental" factor. Vandy, sensing that they are on the rise, will want to squelch any attempt from another area team to garner media attention. VU wants to be THE team in Middle Tennessee. Unfortunately, after this game, MT will hold that honor. The Tennessean will assign two full-time reporters to cover MT after this one, and 99.7 will begin hosting the Andy McCollum show on Thursday nights. Stadium expansion plans are now being mulled over in M'boro.
