Leak very well could give Orton a run for the third string quarterback, something to look at during the camp

Leak is a much better QB than Orton. Orton has the arm strength but Leak has all the intangibles

I'm not sure we've seen the last of Orton. He might still be a good backup for somebody. He was kind of thrown in there as a starter, and of course he didn't do that well. Grossman had some atrocious games too, and he's still starting.

Bears also have J.T. O'Sullivan on their roster. Just read he has the Frankfurt Galaxy off to a 3-0 start in the NFLE.

tribune Wrote:Bears property J.T. O'Sullivan completed 14 of 22 passes for 223 yards and one touchdown without an interception for the Frankfurt Galaxy on Saturday. O'Sullivan, who has been on six NFL rosters the last five seasons, has led the Galaxy to a 3-0 start in NFL Europa.

O'Sullivan was the Packers 3rd string QB two years ago, I believe.

He's pretty crappy.

It sounds like the Bears had Greg Olsen's brother Chris in for a work out as well. He was a QB at ND before transferring to Virginia.

Greg Olsen was at ND before transferring to the U. He went through camps then enrolled at Miami instead.

I hope Orton never leaves the Bears. I will no longer have anything to laugh at when I see him on the sidelines of the games.

He looks like he is the best QB in NFL Europa right now, which is better than being less than the best QB in NFL Europa. However, remember that Jonathan Quinn won the World Bowl, the season before he was drummed out of Chicago.

Go Frankfurt!!

Jonathan Quinn was seriously the worst professional athlete I have ever seen. That was an absolute joke.

what made him a #1 college recruit, but not a #1 NFL prospect? I've always wondered about this regarding what differentiates recruits and prospects.....

it usually comes down to arm strength, and also what kind of system the kid comes from. For example. Trent Edwards won ONE game at Stanford last year, and yet he was rated well above troy smith and chris leak, two very superior collegiate qb's who played for the national championship, and one even won the heisman trophy. many people probably doubt chris leak because he came from an odd spread system, but then again, so did Alex Smith and he was very highly touted heading into the NFL...i suppose i am confused by this as well lol...

There are not many 5' 11" QBs in today's NFL.

From ESPN.com's page 2

Quote:Quarterback Tyler Thigpen of Coastal Carolina Was Drafted; Chris Leak Was Not: Nobody took Chris Leak, who just led Florida to the BCS title. Sure Leak is 5-11, but in college and high school he threw for 26,086 yards -- most of those throws coming over the outstretched hands of guys just as big as NFL defenders. Drew Brees is barely 6-1, and it's hard to believe less than two inches of height disqualifies Chris Leak from pro football. Nobody drafted Dave Ball of New Hampshire, because he doesn't have a flashy 40 time -- all he did in college was break Jerry Rice's I-AA touchdown records. Rice never had a great 40 time, either. Something tells me Leak and Ball will end up as successful pros, despite the best efforts of the zillion-dollar football scouting establishment to scoff at them.

And they both signed with the same team....hmmmmmmmm
