This is how the 2004 recruiting classes rank from 'Worst to First' in the SBC; I included Tech for reference as they seem to think their WAC association helps their recruiting so much LOL!!!

The data below follows this format:

Rank
School
Total Recruits
5 Star Recruits
4 Star Recruits
3 Star Recruits
Avg Stars
Rivals Points

110 New Mexico St. 16 0 0 0 2.00 48 (WAC bound - WORST!!!)

101 Louisiana-Mon. 21 0 0 0 2.00 60

Idaho 28 0 0 0 2.00 60 (WAC bound)

97 Louisiana-Laf. 27 0 0 0 2.00 60

87 Arkansas St. 28 0 0 1 2.04 65

No indication here that WAC has helped La Tech recruiting ???
Louisiana Tech 29 0 0 1 2.03 65 (WAC for several years)

82 Middle Tenn St. 30 0 1 3 2.17 84

73 Troy 25 0 0 1 2.04 119

72 North Texas 18 0 0 2 2.11 120

69 Utah State 24 0 1 2 2.17 155 (WAC bound -- FIRST!!!)

SBC is not faring so badly for a 3 year old football conference!

I do not put any stock in the star recruiting rankings. If they were accurate, Boise State would not have led the nation in total scoring offense 3 out of the last 4 years and finished in the Top 20 for 2 consecutive years.

Utah State has a history of winning football games and will be a great addition for the WAC. NMSU and Idaho both are nice fits for the WAC too, although neither have football winning traditions.

Let's just say that Idaho, NMSU and Utah State fit better in the WAC and let it go at that!!!!!!

The Sun Belt will be stronger with a closer regional configeration!

Everybody wins!

BroncoBob -- I agree; both the WAC and the SBC will benefit from a more regional alignment. I am glad to see Idaho, NMSU, and USU in the WAC; it will be good for all!

Watch out for FAU; Schnellenberger is building a good program once AGAIN!!!

Go SBC!!!
Go WAC!!!
