I am not that familiar with your school and have a question. Has your school ever consider having a football taem? You guys always seem to have good basketball teams, you already have the football field there in Little Rock, LR is the largest city in Arkansas, so if it has never been considered, why not?

In all honesty, I am not a UALR graduate, just a huge fan, so I don't have firsthand information about the reasons for not having a football team. UALR is a commuter campus, and that may have something to do with it. Also, UA-Fayetteville fiercely combats any incroachment upon their turf as the "only game in town" in football (just ask ASU fans), and they have a huge amount of financial and political pull.

Last I heard about UALR not having football was that its a financial thing. Seems like they could do like UAB did and build a D-1A program in about five years with lots of support and a fan base strong enough to put 15,000 in the seats for games.
But the power of the Broyles side is strong, and is tough to defeat, as he holds the state's collegiate sports in his hand, and refuses to relinquish control. Too bad for Arkansas, as competition is always healthy.

It really is amazing how much influence Frank Broyles has in this state.

I was hoping that the Nolan Richardson situation might be able to bring Frank down, but it seems that a little incident like running off the best basketball coach in our history just isnt enough to loose King Frank's control on U of A athletics.
Sure is sad, if he would just step aside there could be some new blood in the position and some enthusiasm to get things changed in this state.

While Frank irritates me with regard to his monopolistic position in-state, I have to give him his due that he has overseen one of the very best overall athletic programs in the country. And, don't count me in Nolan's court in that controversy. I thought he was absolutely out of line and any administrator in the country would have and should have fired.

Nolan was strung a bit differently than other coaches. He has endured racism his whole life, and the things he said mustve been caused by some one. Now him not being able to endure the Arkansas media is laughable, they arent exactly tough to deal with. Most of the Arkansas guys cant write and when the try to be hard hitting and attack a coach like Nolan, its weak.
But, that said, Nolan didnt deserve to be run off. He's a legend in Arkansas and its just wrong to chase off a national championship.

I will say that I think Stan Heath is a coach that Razorback fans can get excited about. He'll bring some discipline that hasn't been seen in a while.
