Interesting stuff(which of course was a part of our footballl education growing up here in Charm City!) - When Memorial Stadium was built, it was considered one of the best all-purpose stadiums, and thus the Orioles and Colts arrived.

Thats only partially true. They were in the AAFC and were one of 3 teams from there that moved to the NFL, but they folded after 1 season in the NFL (1950). 3 years later the NFL made another team called the Baltimore colts but their history officially starts in 1953. So officially this isn't the same colts team. The 1953 stats are not considered part of the current balt/indy colts stats. So technically the balt/indy colts did get their start in the NFL. The cleveland browns and 49ers are actually from that old AAFL.
