And HuronDave! And...wow!!! 04-jawdrop Welcome to the board, guys. You'll be happy to know this mod isn't a board nazi. Just don't drag MLive gripes over here and it's all good. ;-)

Yeah, I wonder what took so long
Actually, I'll say...

I've been on this boards for 36 months and really enjoy posting with my fellow MAC fans.

What I didn't want though is for the bad apples to come over from the M'Live (now dead) board so I didn't publicize this board.

One of the posters with whom I e-mail wanted to make the move (to this board) and another out and out quit posting so I used phony screen names on Mlive to drop hints of this board. Others did as well (including the one who made the move late last year).

YES, I've had my posts taken down on MLive, but like we all learned as kids:

"It's too late to close the barn door after the horse has already left..." ;-)

The M'Dead forum is basically a few dead enders and almost NO EMU info on it.

Great job Steve. We have made attempts in the past to get posters to move away from the darkside, but like an evil aura compelled them to return. Do you remember the site goemueagles.com? The guy who ran that did a great job but couldn't get his message board active. He actually designed the current template we use at MAC Report Online.

Anyway, let's hope this board becomes what we hope. I visited MLive today for grins...it's pretty much a total wasteland now.

I've been part of MANY boards, e-mail lists, forums, and what not over the last 12 years (I think the first was an AOL [yep, AOL] board). I believe that board had (several) folks who make their living in MAC sports.

Anyway, much like everything else in the world, we seem to be moving away from a mom and pop stores, etc. and away from unaffiliated boards, forums, e-mail lists, etc.

and TOWARD a commercial product which serves not just one school or conference but the MOST of the the market (in this case collegiate sports).

Similar products include scout.com (They have a very active CMU board).

NCAAbbs is the perfect home for EMU fans and MAC fans.

Dexter Eagle YOU are the UNSONG Hero for posting and posting here until the rest of the EMU world decided to join you.

If you had not been posting here this board would have been at ground zero.

I wish I had saved a post that got taken down on Mlive
It went something like this:

I learned as a grad student in a research program:

"No theory is ever disproved; it is replaced by a better theory."

and to extend it here:

"No forum simply dies on its own, but rather it replaced by a beter forum."

Steve, I thought I knew of you from the AOL Grandstand MAC sites, but for the life of me, I can't recall your screen name there. It'll probably come to me in themiddle of the night or something.

Ahhh the good ol' days of the AOL forum. I remember Steve's monniker from those days, but I'll let him offer it up if he wishes.

yep, that was me
my moniker has almost been completely retired as it was part of my last name and also my AOL e-mail address.

It was almost my first LAN account at work about 15 years ago (but that changed about 13 years ago).

I do sometimes get referred by it at work...

I don't know if Karl or "the wooden nickle" rememb
this story from the AOL board from 10 years ago.

Two posters of note:

1). NIU radio guy - he did the color on NIU broadcasts. NIU and Joe Novak were on a long losing streak. Think they had just broken it vs. CMU (and yes the NIU students tore down the goal posts) about two weeks before EMU and NIU played.

2). Little Boykins - h.s. kid - big, big fan of Earl Boykins.

Anyway, "Little Boykins" posts that HIS h.s. team could beat NIU. Radio guy takes that post and posts it in the NIU lockerroom.

NIU spanks EMU pretty good. NIU Radio Guy mentions the story after the game in his post game show.

NIU Radio Guy confirms the story to me, kind of like 'yep...".
