EMU-UT Game
Well if this game proves anything, its that like our football team our basketball team stuggles sometimes to play two solid halves. After playing even with UT the first half, we let them slip out of the gate right at the beginning of the second half and UT never looked back. UT shot much better at the FT and 3FG than we did even discounting EMU desperation 3s at the end of the game.

Medlock and Bunkley continue to be our offense with whoever has the hot hand that night being the rest.

We're still learning and have a whole round against these very same teams in February. One measure of improvment will be how we play the same teams the second time around.

Ramsey's take on the game, during his post-game interview on WEMU, was that the loss was due to a lack of composure. I agree. It wasn't as bad as the CMU game (which the Eagles should not have lost), but EMU was out of its offense for most of the 2nd half as the more mature Toledo team was much more effective offensively. As usual, Toledo was the quickest team I've seen at the Convo this season and played an agressive defense. Joplin does a good job getting players who are very quick. Overall, seeing that this young team is 10 points out of being in first place in the MAC West, I'm not that disappointed. I think we'll see this team to continue to mature and develop, and succeed. Considering where EMU was at this time last season, I am very upbeat about the future of Eagle basketball.

I was at the game yesterday...

The EMU team was much more physical and just "big"! The Toledo team has quite a few players who've been on the team for a while - so this is a stronger team than the past few years. Couldn't get over how many big guys kept coming off of the bench.

The game's a tough one for me - I'm assoicated with both universities, but enjoyed the game nonetheless - just need more fans in the stadium!

I was at the game yesterday as well....

EMU is a very talented team and should be a solid team in the upcoming years. Before the game I was shocked that EMU already had 2 MAC wins, but after the game I could see how they got those wins and why EMU fans are optimistic about the future.

Bunkley and Medlock are great players. Everytime I saw them take an open shot I had the feeling that it would go down....and suprised sometimes when they didn't go down.

Here's wishing you luck for the rest of the MAC season and hope to see you here on Feb. 13!!!

at the end of the game, Carlos tried to do too much, and that hurt our chances at a comeback. I don't blame him, since the other guys weren't doing anything at that point.

I questioned some of Ramsey's lineups. He had some questionable offensive players on the floor in the second half. He probably did it because our normal scorers were not putting the ball in the net, but it sure made it more difficult to come back.

I thought Toledo played great perimeter defense as EMU struggled to get there 3's going which is normally a huge part of their offense, Eastern rarely saw an open 3. Also 22 turnovers which is too be expected with a team this young you will not be able to compete with a vetearn team such as Toledo with all those TO's. All in All I was proud with how Eastern hung tough for the whole game and refused to pack it in.

Looking forward to another Comcast Local game Saturday at Western.

Lineups
I attende all but a couple of EMU games last year, but Tuesday nights game was my first this year (mostly because of those idiotic 3:00 pm start times the week after christmas 01-wingedeagle ). What struck me was the improved defensive play and just the intensity of the team. I think last year they leaned too much on Bowler and were reluctent to step up. Once Medlock learns to control the game better it is going to be a dangerous team.
