I want to congratulate MTSU for defeating WKU and setting a school record. In front of 11,807 fans at the Murphy Center, the Raiders took care of Western Kentucky 73-59.

Mike Dean had a great night scoring 19 points, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Michael Cuffee had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Tommy Gunn had 15 points and Bryan Smithson contributed 12 pts. Alex Weekes also set a school-record with eight blocked shots.

The Raiders also played excellent defense limiting WKU to only 59 pts.

Way to go Raiders!!!

Thanks.

I would love to see Middle Tennessee win the tournament and make a trip to the NCAA. It's been a long time since 1989. It would be a great thing for the seniors like Tommy Gunn and Steven Jackson.

In reality we may be a couple of years from where we need to be. One thing I like about Kermit is he demands hard work and defense, and seems to get more out of his players than might be expected from another coach. We only had one starter returning from last season and we've depended on some freshmen to step up and play. We've started at least two freshmen most games this year.
