according to DandyDon.com anyway  Until CajunGuru joins us over here and shares his wisedom this is the best I can come up with this early. Truthfully I know nothing about these players at this point and have only seen Taylor and Guillory play. I doubt either will play for us as there seems to be a pipeline to either LSU for the qualified players or McNeese State for the non-qualifiers. Carencro head coach Mack Barrouse is an McNeese State grad. To my knowledge we have only 1 Carencro player on our entire roster, Bill Sampy. Anybody who has seen any of these guys play please let us know what you think about them.

Lucas Taylor (ATH/QB, 6'1", 190, 4.4) Carencro
Bradley Guillory (OL, 6'5", 290), Carencro
Chris Keyes (ATH, 6'2", 205), Port Barre (LSU commitment)
Beau Lassaignie, ATH, 6'3", 195, ST Martinville
John Hundley, QB, 6'4",200, ST Thomas More
Luke Aubrey, WR/DL, 6'4",210, Teurlings Catholic
Latarryal Savoy, WR/S, 6'3", Mamou.
Charlie Seuura, C, 6'3", 300, Catholic New Iberia
Darrick Fourraux, QB, 6'2",190, Erath
Tyson Andrus, DB, 6'1", 185, Northside

It seems like somebody like Coach Bustle can change things at Carenco and recruiting of some real good football players since they are in your backyard. Someone with a lot of pull in the Lafayette area should turn this situation around right now and not wait untill tomorow.

Notes on Luke Aubrey from Teurlings (GO REBELS!!). First off, I've never seen him play DL. DandyDon doesn't know what he's talking about. Second, he may have a better basketball career than football.

As for him at WR, he was the main target of many defensives when the pass happy Rebels took the field. When that happened, it created openings for other receivers which is why he really didn't have good numbers and other WR's had more receptions and yardage. He does have a case of the "butterfingers" or sometimes has linemen hands. But when he is on, he can catch about anything his way. He can bust a game wide open. He is very quick and makes great cuts. He is not afraid to go over the middle and catch a pass. He would make a good addition for the Cajuns in football or basketball. After watching him in football and basketball this past year, I think his basketball future looks better.

It is humorous to read Don when recruiting is going on. When the kid chooses some school beside LSU all of a sudden the Tigers were not "that interested in him" or something along those lines. If a kid commits early to a school like UL or LaTech he does not even make the top 25 on Don's list

Look up the word "homer" in Websters, you'll find Dandy Don's picture. His entire website is about how great LSU is and how far below all others are. :snore:

Yes I noticed that about his website, but that's his opinion. I know we stole some kids from their list and most of the Evil Empire's websites won't admit it b/c they think their above everyone else. All I have to say is watch out for us, b/c we're going to be stealing a lot more recruits in this state from them in the future! 04-cheers

And you act like your shocked by Don's "change of heart" when a kid LSU @ BR likes signs with someone else. Typical Tigger fan, very typical.

Quite frankly, his opinion sucks. Any Joe Blow could start up his own recuriting ranking if he knows about certain high schools and their output of D1 athletes. If Don was smart, he goes to Evangel, West Monroe, STM, Carencro, etc. first to find the top seniors. Then just pick up reports from kenramsey.com to find out about others. Wait, what am I doing? I need to keep that info on the down low so I can start my recruit rankings.

I can tell you about the QB from Erath.

1) Absolute GOLDEN arm. Better than Desormeaux.

2) Just as good, if not a better athelete than Desormeaux

3) Better passer. He sees the whole field.

4) Questionable head. Not sure if he has a better or worse decision making skills than Desormeaux.

This young man has the tools to be a GREAT college QB. If we offer him a scholarship without the promise of a chance to compete for a job, he will probably be signed by another state school.(Tech/ULM/Tulane). He's that good.

He may be good, but when Teurlings whipped Erath, he didn't look too good. He did beat Desormeaux head-to-head in their matchup in the fall. I'll be watching him closely when I head on out to Erath this year for the district game.

I saw the Teurlings game on TV. He was lucky he didn't get injured. I've never seen the Bobcats with a smaller line than the last couple of years. When he wasn't running for his life, the receivers could not get open, or dropped the ball. The only thing Erath could do that night was run a QB draw around the corner.

I have a friend who is an assisstant coach there. He told me about Farroux when he was a freshman. I went to see him play one night. He was a second stringer at the time. He only went in for 2 series the whole game. I knew from the first time I saw him throw a pass that he would be a special player.

Latarryal Savoy, WR/S, 6'3", Mamou

Latarryal comes from my alma mater Mamou High School. Head Coach is Joel Deselle. Latarryal is a solid athlete with good speed and good hands, although he did have problems in the playoffs holding on to the ball in cold weather. He plays on a Mamou Greeen Demon squad that was elmininated in the quarter final round of the playoffs last year. I think he is definetly has the potential to play D-IA football however I don't think he is an SEC type talent. I think he would be a good fit at UL. I'll see what else I can find out from home.

On a side note I was shocked to see a Mamou player on Dandy Don's list considering many of these guys don't know where Mamou is and know nothing about our athletes.

CajunNation,we are going to have agree to disagree on your opinion
about Fourraux.

I watched Fourraux against CHS and N.Vermilion. I never saw the great QB prospect that you had seen. First, I would give Fourraux the edge as an athlete. I believe he is faster then Desormeaux. He is not as refined throwing the football as Desormeaux and Desormeaux needs work on his mechanics. His stats were not as good as Desormeauxs, some of that because of the offense Erath ran. Right now,he is more of an athlete then a QB and I will have to see great progress in his passing techniques this year to compare him to Desormeaux.

Well, LSU lost one of their committments a couple of days ago, just never really reported. Chris Keys has been expelled from Port Barre High School, for reasons that I know but do not feel they should be posted on a message board.

Here is an update on Mamou High player LaTerryal Savoy. Mamou (LA)

LaTerryal Savoy. Mamou (LA)
Wide Receiver
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 200 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.58 seconds

According to Rivals Michigan is interested in him and apparently has a scholarship offer on the table. Interested schools include LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Ole Miss, Nebraska. The knock on LaTerryal has been his speed and many colleges are taking a wait and see approach.

If Michigan has offered him then he's a great player and they know something about his speed. I wonder if we could try and get him? With those offers probably not, but it's worth a try.
