Why did our Football team wind up on academic probation? Was that Carlie Sadlers fault?

Face the facts after 11 years no MACC, 59-64 record.
BTW, I think Ohio U only had 5 winning seasons out of the last 25. I think we have been better than that.

This kind of stuff is "as the world turns" NIU edition. So much drama and insecurity. Joe is a fine coach, one of the best in the mac. I relaly dont want to go over again why he should be our coach, as i've done it a million times.

Face the facts, St Joes best year was 2003. I do not drink the kool-aide.

Please name me another coach in his 11th year with a 59-64 record.

Why did he go for it on 4th and 3 against Iowa? We had 3rd and 1 but lost 2 yards. Why not let our excellent FG kicker attempt a field goal and take th lead.
I think you are missing the point. Don't look at results. What are you crazy?! Don't you realize that if we throw out all of Joe's losses, he is UNDEFEATED!!!

Come on, get with it. 04-chairshot

How many times can you say exactly the same thing? Is it just copy and paste at this point?

I'll make it easy. Feel free to copy and paste from below

NIUJDK Wrote:While I think that you need to look at the tangible won / loss record, you also have to consider the intangible items as well. We don't have athletes getting arrested every week. We have a new facility being built. Athletes understand that we are not tConvictU or ThugU where athletes are expected to remain dumb and just go to practice. Coach Novak actually enforces academice requirements.

There are a lot of good things going on with the program. Do we agree with every Coach Novak decision? Of course not. Right now would I replace him with some young coach who thinks he knows what to do and really doesn't? Not a chance. Don't know what you got until it's gone.

I appreciate Coach Novak and I am sure most people here do also.

On a side note - how do I setup my first ignore for a user? I can't take this NIU11 guy any more.

This is the best bottom line post I have seen. I absolutley question MANY of Joe's calls, and am frustrated as hell with his coordinators who are very incosistent and need to improve or be held accountable. However, as far as running the program in the way it should be run and in a way to make us proud, Joe's the man.

Mike Price when he was at WSU

We have been through this before yet you never own up to it when I point it out. From 1989 through 1999 Mike Price was 59-66 coaching at WSU.

So please own up to this fact and say something.

it should also be known that in the next few years the Cougars were as follows (all under Price).

2000- 4-7
2001- 10-3 (Sun Bowl)
2002- 10-3 (Rose Bowl)

What are you going to say now? Please respond.

I have done alot of thinking about this one. Obviously the state is leaps and bounds better than where it was..no question about that. The real issue about Novak or any coach at NIU is where does the program want to go. If status quo is the plan then Joe probably stays as long as the program does not slip too far. If winning championships is the plan well then NIU really needs to evaluate if Joe is the man...

Interesting that this type of conversation was not even imagined 10 years ago so that shows how much the program has grown. I have to give complete trust that Phillips will do the right thing for the program and school. Whether or not I agree with what Joe has been doing, and I do not, ultimately does not matter. I am passionate about my alma mater and will express my opinion and thoughts without apology good or bad.

I think it is a lot harder to improve in the PAC 10 than it is oimprove i the MAC. Look at the difference in talent levels. Oh, I forgot about St Joes great record against the Big Ten (0-9) and Toledo (1-8).

It is not smetko, it is 85alum. The constant references to Solich are what gave him away. He always got aroused by Solich.

I would think that it is a lot easier to recruit in the Pac 10. I think it would be a lot easier (in the Pac-10) to bring in very good JC recruits. I think exposure in the Pac 10 would be a lot better than in the MAC.

You asked for another coach who had as bad of a record over 11 years. I supplied you one (with a worse record). The thing about Joe is that he has almost stabalized the program. How many years has NIU had a winning record? Fairly impresseive if you aske me.

Do I want more out of NIU's football program. Yes. Do I think canning Joe will raise NIU to the next level? No...not yet.

Your schtick is tired and old.
