NIU vs. Airforce in the Poinsettia Bowl

That's the only one I see that is updated. If I see they get updated, I'll post some more.

I'm definitely in! I'm an SDSU post grad (team sucks this year) who witnessed Marshall Faulk in his finest college football year. San Diego is a treat for a bowl party. We'll play volleyball on Pacific Beach before the tailgate party, although it will be a bit cold that time of year and the San Diegans will do this 01-wingedeagle Don't worry, San Diego is great that time of year.

YES!!! I would love to see that game, i have a friend that goes to USAFA. They travel very well. Here's an interesting fact, USAFA requires that their students attend games. You can get in trouble if you don't.

Wow ... 4 MAC teams going bowling ... CMU, WMU, NIU, and Kent St.

If we win our remaining MAC games and don't go to the MACC, I wonder if we would be selected before the MACC, like Toledo last year for the GMAC bowl. I just can't see CMU or KSU traveling well to a bowl game that is not in Detroit.

Perhaps other MAC schools should implement this policy to meet the 15K attendance starndard. ;-)

NIU will travel well in/to Cal. Several alum live in Cal and alot of us have various degrees from that state. I can see the Poinsietta bowl as a great opportunity for the Huskies. This certainly can happen if we can have a good game with Iowa and finish off the season on a highly positive note.

I'd go. Actually I'd take the whole week off and make a vacation out of it, stopping off in Phoenix to pick up a friend for the game.

That would be an awfully long trip for a bus to make. It's 2200 miles....one way. Plan on a minimum of two days on the road just to SD. Forking out a few hundred bucks in airfare seems like a better proposition.

My guess is the mountain grades and thin air would be too much for the engine. Whoa, HMM, that just gave me an idea.... Oxygen tank on the air intake! 02-13-banana

Hopefully the Student Association, CAB, and NIU could put together a cheap travel package via plane or bus.

I don't think the bus mechanically would be a problem...but it would take 3 days to drive there! I'll go for plane tix...which could easily be $300-$400 round trip that time of year (right before Christmas) without being able to buy in advance (only 3-4 weeks ahead of time).

If we get one of the bowls around Jan. 8, airfare should be relatively cheap.

IF this happens, NIU needs to put together some a good charter package. I was already booked on another flight for the SVB in 2004, but I would have liked to have taken the NIU charter. However, I think that a must for the charter package is a two-tier price package, with a lower price for students. I would be more than willing to pay extra so that more students could afford to go.

+1

This is less like charity and more like alumni supporting current students in a strong way.

I'd go to any bowl game NIU is in, but we just don't look like a bowl calibre team this year. We have 5 wins vs. 5 teams with a combined 5-32 record.

I could try to help out the students who could make it to SD. I could pull through my connections there and see if we could put a package together. I don't have the money issues at this point in life but I'm willing to help the younger generation have a good experience. I think we could all do well in San Diego together....Coronado Beach, Pacific Beach, Olde Towne, and good old Petco stadium (which used to be Jack Murphy stadium when I watched Faulk as a college student).

If there was a way I could afford to go, I would go. However, I am a semi poor student and airfare isn't cheap either way.
