Very good to see DT Justin Taylor back on the field. He was wearing a knee brace but did not seem too bothered by it. He was playing on the 2nd team. First team DT's are Ken Haynes and Marshall Delesdernier, and they both played very well today (Marshall got a busted nose but it did not slow him down). JC transfer Curtis Isaac is the other 2nd team DT.
DE has Eugene Kwarteng and Travis Bass as starters with Tony Hills and #95 who I still cannot identify on the 2nd team. Tony also saw time with the 1st team defense.
MLB, Stanley Smith is the starter without question, I have Mack Fair listed as his backup but today Fair played both MLB and SLB. Senior Chris Klock has been moved to MLB and I thought did a great job today.
SLB, looks like RS-Fr Mark Risher is now leading for this position over transfer Herschel Robinson. Both saw time with the first team but Risher got the majority of the snaps by far. Again, Fair played here some as well.
WLB, Tyler Norman is the starter and was doing his usual hard hitting today, James Roberts is a very ggod player and Norman's backup. He played some on the first team as well.
SS, C.C. Brown is the best player on defense IMHO and showed it again today as he had a great scrimmage. #23 (possibly Johnny Felders) is his backup.
FS, David Prater is the starter and played well, RS-Fr Torres Kingsby is the 2nd team FS and he also played well.
CB's, Terryl Fenton and Mike Adams started and both played very well (Adams had an INT and Fenton a nice breakup), behind them today were #25 and #27 one of these guys is Jamarcus Smith but not sure which one.
As is usual in the spring, the defense looked ahead of the offense but considering we are using a new scheme I think this is a good sign. I look forward to seeing our incoming linemen this fall, not because the guys we have now are not doing a good job but because we are thin at DT and DE and need these guys badly for depth.
