It will be interesting to see what comes of all this. I don't know anything for sure, but I'm really starting to wonder if this is a case of where there is smoke there is fire. With all of these rumors floating around and for as long as they have been with neither party coming out to denounce them, one has to wonder if there isn't something brewing on the horizon.

Surely you can find out something.
Call someone.

I did some checking around with a couple people I know within WKU today, and none of them would say much about it. However they are the same ones in the past that have came right out and said no. So who knows where this thing is headed, my personal opinion (no real hard facts to base it on) is that WKU is headed to the MAC.

I'm with Prime. I hate to count on anything too much before it happens, but there is a part of me that thinks we're heading out of the Belt. There's also a part of me that isn't so sure that the Belt is going to be around that much longer either. When UTEP goes to the C-USA, I think (despite the denials of many Sun Belt fans) that at least one school will be interested in leaving for the WAC and this will have a domino effect pulling other teams along with them. Hope it doesn't go down that way, but I'm afraid it will.
Regardless, no offense to the Belt, but I do hope the rumors of WKU to the MAC are true. I'll keep supporting our Toppers and Lady Toppers no matter where we end up though! :bluethumb:

My gut says 80% chance WKU to the MAC. My gut also wants Mexican food.

Pity about Ransdale's reaffirmation of the Sunbelt. This statement seems to be a direct response to the rumors. Very dissappointing.

It's either to quiet the rumors...or to quell the questioning of the Sun Belt and other members. I had to say it, but any more I have very little trust in ANYTHING that is said from people in positions of power. Just call me jaded because of some of the things I have seen in the past. Things like...we have no intention of closing this operation when we purchase your company and then a couple of months after the purchase...pink slips for everybody. However, Ransdall may be straight shooting about this stuff. I think staying or leaving has always been/will always be based upon a lot of factors and changing scenarios. Regardless, if we stay in the Sun Belt, well, I'm okay with that. If we go to the MAC, I'm okay with that too. I didn't really build my hopes up very much either way.

I guess I did get my hopes up. I am pretty dissappointed.
[b]“But our commitment is to make the Sun Belt Conference the best league it can be.

I'll admit I'm a little disappointed too. I don't have as much against the Sun Belt as some people, but I do think the MAC would have been good for us if we were adding I-A football. If we are going to remain I-AA in football (which would also disappoint me), then there isn't necessarily that much reason to switch conferences. Don't get me wrong, I love our football team, but not going to I-A is eventually really going to hurt our athletics program (with that said I also don't want to go to I-A if we can fund it and it ends up hurting both atletics and academics either).
Yes we do have some attendance and RPI problems with the some of the Sun Belt schools, but many of the schools are working to get better. Men's basketball does need to get even stronger. I think that has started to happen. There are definitely some programs in the Belt that are working to improve their product and attendance. Hopefully all of it will work for them. In women's basketball, the Sun Belt does have 4-5 potentially strong schools (WKU, MTSU, Ark. St., So. Al, and Flo. Inl-this one hasn't been as strong in the past year or two as it has been at times in the past). Baseball is strong just about every year. I think the addition of Troy St. for will be good for football and men's basketball (they've had strong teams as of late). I'm not really sure how Troy is in any of their other sports, but hopefully they bring additional benefits other than just those two.
All we can do is HOPE that what the administration is doing is what is best for WKU in the long run. For the most part, both of them have made good decisions (well, excluding the hiring of Shawn Campbell as the women's b-ball coach over Mary Taylor Cowles a couple of years ago.)

I saw an official Miami of Ohio van on Campbell lane today (May 16th). Not that that means anything what-so-ever. It just struck me as strange. I mean what reason would a Miami of Ohio van be down here? Is there any competition of some kind (debate, swimming, anything?) at WKU that Miami participated in? Not trying to get any more rumors started just genuinely curious.
