CUSA is considering expansion again.
If UTEP goes to CUSA that leaves La Tech alone.
Does the WAC offer an invite UNT to be a member? No, the WAC really becomes a Western Conference.
That leaves La Tech begging for membership into the Sunbelt. This is odd since La Tech thought they were better than the Sunbelt. Should the Sunbelt accept La Tech? Yes, this the a good team that will add to the Sunbelt.
Will the CUSA be raided? Almost certain.
Would a new member like La Tech or Troy join CUSA? Surprise, the answer may be who leaves to join the Big East. Because the Big East will divided. Basketball schools may form another conference in a few years.
If Memphis and UAB leave that hutrs the Sunbelt chances of all the members presently staying. If ECU, Marshall UCF eastern teams leave watch for CUSA to try and raid the MAC.
Should be interesting to see what happens.
Sunbelt is a good conference which is only going to get better. The hard part is being a fan of CUSA and guessing what they do next. CUSA adds UTEP as its 12 member to have a championship game. To be rotated by the divisons winner for the first few years.
Where would the Sunbelt Championship Game be played? New Orleans
Thank You for your time

I do not think LaTech will "beg" to get into the SBC, they would not have to. I think they would be welcomed back if that is what they wanted. The Sun Belt does not currently nor does it expect anytime soon to have 12 football playing members to have a championship game. The SBC champ does play in the New Orleans Bowl against a C-USA team.

I'm not saying La Tech to the Sun Belt won't happen but here are a few items to consider:

1. There are not six basketball schools in the WAC that have been
playing together for five years. La Tech and Boise need two
more years. Utah State and I believe NMSU won't join for
basketball until 2006. I believe that the WAC has a waiver for
those two for two years.

2. Has La Tech even paid all of their WAC entry fees?

3. Will there be an exit fee for the WAC?

4. Would there be an entry fee for the SBC?

5. Will major donors approve of a return to the Belt?

6. Louisiana Tech took a gamble which they eventually lost. Can
the administration and fans see that they would be better off
with Sun Belt teams?

From a WAC point of view, a merger with the SBC, with the WAC being the surviving conference, would solve all of the above problems. From the SBC stance, La Tech would strengthen the conference, save the New Orleans Bowl and keep a great commissioner with football. Tough decision.

Tech save the New Orleans Bowl & WW's job? :ninja: LAUGHABLE statement.

I'm sure they'd be welcome if the APPLIED for membership, but with what's transpired recently they probably need the conference more than the conference actually needs them.

I agree -- La Tech joining will not save the NO Bowl. The NO Bowl is not in jeopardy.

The Sun Belt should add Louisiana Tech & Western Kentucky for football.

We need to make all teams in the SBC full sport members but I don't see WKU moving up in football to join the SBC. I think we could add La. Tech but they don't want to join us, they want to stay in the WAC.
