Okay, a MT fan brought this idea to the Troy board awhile back, and I was wondering what some of you might think. Do any of you have ideas for some kind of trophy that can be passed back and forth to the winners of the football game? What about a name for the game itself? No, the "MT beats TSU every game since the move to D-I game" won't work because thats going to change this year. :D
The only thing I can come up with is the Chancellor's Trophy, just a huge trophy like the Stanley Cup or something, or since its the Trojans vs. the Blue Raiders we could have a huge sword with the winners name etched into a plaque to hang it from, or even etched into the blade.
Since the Sun Belt is really trying to build up their rivalries for fan support it would be cool if TSU and MTSU could take it up a notch and have something to show for it besides a 'W' in the conference and bragging rights. If its going to be a rivalry, it should be the best rivalry.

That actually was me, my friend.
One of the things I did before the official schedules were released for the Sun Belt schools was that I emailed the presidents and both Middle Tennessee and Troy State along with Sun Belt Commissioner Wright Waters making many suggestions for a built rivalry game.
One of those suggestions was to move the contest to the last game of the season for both schools in which that has come to pass. Now I don't know if this was originally planned to do it that way, but I like to think that I had some influence! :)

Then I'm glad I didn't take credit for it myself.
It is a good idea and if we (MT and TSU) could get on it first and have something before the other SBC schools do it would be great.
The media loves stuff like that and it would attract more attention from them. I can see them cutting to shots of the trophy on the sideline and shots of the winners running up to the stands holding the trophy with the fans cheering. It would be great.
I think I'll come up with an email for the athletic directors.

Well FIU & FAU already have a trophy game at the end of the season So you might not be the first in the Sun Belt :D
The Don Shula Trophy:
Although I hate posting that since FAU has won it twice already

Nuts! :bang:
Well we could still be the first two active teams in the Sun Belt to have a rivalry trophy. And even if we aren't it is still a good idea.

I think it's a good idea for all the SBC schools do to with one another. The problem being who would be UNT's rival when they haven't lost since the first season? I think UL and ULM would be a good rival since we're in the same state.

Well,
UNT is 10-10 vs ULM and 1-1 vs Troy St. and is (I think) 10-9 vs Ark St., so take your pick. I think that UNT hasn't seen what Middle Tennessee has to offer in football except for the first year that we played the...All that being said, they are still a good team and very good compared to most of the Sunbelt, but like I've stated MANY times before, I've seen years where Tennessee/Florida/Gerogia/Alabama would dominate the SEC...Those teams may not have gone so long without a conference loss, but it may be due to having more confernce members and more conference games...not sure...Anyway, I believe that we are just getting into some real conference football ths year and that other Sunbelt teams will start to compete with them this Fall...They will probably win most of their conference games and go to the NO Bowl again, but I see them with at least one and maybe two conference losses...Of course, I think two losses is stretching it a bit.
