LAFAYETTE — Michael Desormeaux is one of those athletes that sort of lives his life sport to sport.
After an All-Acadiana season in football earlier this year, Desormeaux is back in the All-Acadiana spotlight again, this time as the Most Valuable Player of the 2004 Daily Advertiser/Coca Cola All-Acadiana baseball squad.
The former Catholic High standout hit .490 with 9 homers, 39 RBIs and 18 stolen bases this season for the Panthers. He’s expected to be a fairly high draft pick in the upcoming major league baseball draft.

Let's hope football is Michael's first love. Seems like I remember reading that he was going to play baseball for us also. Does anybody remember hearing that?

I'm pretty sure the rumor about Michael playing ball for Coach Robe has come up. It would be pretty cool if Michael could play football and baseball for UL. He is an exceptional athlete that doesn't come around often. Don't forget, he was also All-District 6-3A basketball too. Clearly, UL landed a great all-around athlete in Michaels Desormeaux.

Swamp,
I remember hearing the same thing, Desormeaux was going to play football and baseball at UL. I'm on campus for the summer I will see what I can find out.

I don't think we need to worry, unless I missed something. According to MLB.com, he wasn't picked through round 50.
