University Portrait
As usual, I made my yearly return to Kent last week and found the University looking better than it has in a long time. The Honors College is impressive and the grounds around it will look beautiful once grass is in place and landscapping is completed.

Franklin Hall is currently being renovated and will become the home of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication when renovation is completed.

At Dix Stadium, construction workers are putting new roofs on all the restroom facilities. Since Dix was painted last year, not much else needs to be done to the stadium from what I could see.

Because the University has undergone major construction and renovation over the last several years, KSU looks better now than it has in a very long time. I have always hoped that Kent State would some day have a photographic portrait of the University published for students and alumni. In my own book collection, I have Dan Dry?s university portraits of Ohio University and Miami University both published by Harmony House. Ohio University - Then and Now and Miami University ? Then and Now are both beautiful portraits of these two distinguished univeristies. Another university portrait that I have seen of a MAC school is Ball State University: A Sense of Place published by the Ball State University Alumni Association.

Since many of us posters are not only Flash fans but also proud alumni of Kent State, I was curious how many of you would be willing to purchase a photographic book of KSU assuming that the Kent State University Alumni Association was able to publish one. The cost of these books is usually high unless a very large number of copies are printed. I don?t know if such a book has ever been suggested but I think it would be a great idea for those who love Kent State University. Although I own a copy of A Book of Memories, I would still like to have a photographic book of KSU similar to the one?s I have on Ohio University and Miami University.

Perhaps if there is enough interest in such a book one can be published.
