Mark Grace = my all time favorite player!!! :towel: I would be greatly aroused if some how the Cubs could talk Grace into managing their baseball team. Although with the bad blood when Gracie left, it might be far fetched, but it would be incredible and I'd be on 03-cloud9!!!

I agree with the above...this philosophy has served the White Sox well...as thier whole darned coaching staff is made up of former White Sox players...including Ozzie Guillen, Harold Baines, Joey Cora, Greg Walker, Tim Raines...and even Kenny Williams is a former pale hose.....

Bringing guys like Sandberg, Grace, or Andre Dawson would probably be a wise move not only from a public relations standpoint...but get this...it may actually be a good baseball decision......So in other words it will probably never happen... ;-)

Go White Sox!!!

falling concrete

coddling Sosa in clubhouse

??? - others to pile on?

Any other MLB team have a longer comedy of errors list?

Remember this comes from the dark side as I moved from once a newbie cubfan as a yearling to becoming a Yankees fan. It was soo easy & makes October alot more happy.

Are you referring to the Buckner error on the grounder? I hate to put Buckner in there because it wasn't another Cubs management goofup, it was an individual player, someone who saved a lot of errors with his glove over the years. And I don't think one play should ever define a player who was otherwise good. Instead, how about adding "Getting rid of Maddux" the first time around? And getting rid of Randy Myers when they had him?

buckners grounder was not with the cubs, I think you are referring to leon durham's grounder in the 84 playoffs

I think Stone Pony as made it known that he would love to be a General Manager. I think he would make a good one some day.

I think the best thing for Cub fans to do is push the Tribune Company to sell the team and maybe an owner who cares about winning more than entertainment will make some changes to the club to bring a winner to Chicago. Oh wait, the Sox already did that.

Is it possible to retitle Stone's GM/pitching coach job to "Baseball Genius?" Mark Grace as manager, Ryne-o/The Hawk (not Harrelson, Dawson) sharing as hitting coach. I would love that.

Steve Stone is a genius. He knew what every pitch would be before it was thrown. Just like Harry he wasn't affraid to criticize the Cubs when they did stupid things.

I think it is a waste not to have someone with his insite into the game not coaching.

Wasn't he with the Red Sox then? In the WS against the Mets? It was Leon Durham who muffed the grounder in the 1984 playoffs.

(Edit note: I hadn't scrolled down to see someone else had already caught this.)

Yea, that's right, I was thinking he was on the Cubs still cuz it was on the list of Cubs management goofups that somebody listed. Anyway, with the Cubs you might have to make it the top 100 list.
