Are you guys ready for some football? I can't wait for the season to start. Wish I could come down to Florida for our game with the Panthers :frown:

I've been anxiously awaiting football season. Waiting to see a (hopefully) very improved and more mature team. Gotta wait till September 2nd against Jacksonville but our first real test will come the second week at Youngstown State. That one will be on TV and we have yet to win an away game in our short history.

I don't know much about Jacksonville but Youngstown State and Western Kentucky will be tough contest. All three lead up to the first 1-A visitor to visit Community Stadium.

Well, Jacksonville shouldn't be much of a game. We've blown them out the last 2 seasons. It's probably the only cakewalk that we have this season. I was surprised they were even on the schedule this year. Our first season we beat them 39-6 and last year we won 55-12. The first two games after that should be a decent test of how far we've come, then hopefully we can give the Cajuns a better game than we gave them last year.

By the way , does Jacksonville have a home stadium? This will be 3 years in a row they are going to be playing down here in Miami. Anyway im looking at home wins vs Jacksonville, Mcneese St. , Georgia Southern and road victories against Stephen Austing and Youngstown State.

Yeah, i'm hoping we do well against the I-AA teams, maybe lose only 2 or 3 of those games. Then maybe coming up with 1 I-A victory would be nice.

We should be more confident this year with all of our key, core guys back. We should be able to hold our own because last year we lost alot of close ones. Hopefully Rashod Smith is nice and healthy throughout the year and Jamie Burke is healthy so that we can have a good #1 and #2 at QB with the #3 spot being held down solidly by David Tabor.

It seems as though last year, there were a good amount of fans for our opponents on the visitors side. (Guess they were excited to get down to South Florida for our warm weather in the fall) 03-cool

Hey Swamp, does your team travel well? 03-confused

Hard to say how well they will travel that far but after all it is Miami :D so hopefully there will be plenty of Ragin' Cajuns down your way for the game.

With the kind of weather down here in miami, FIU shold try to wear down opponents with the running game. I mean damn i go outside and take five steps and im sweating already. Have to use the humidity to our advantage.

Unfortunately Ge,
I think it gets pretty humid in Louisiana due to the swamps and all (correct me if I'm wrong Swamphound). So in that case we're just going to have to surprise them :ninja: and come with our "A" game.
Maybe we can use the HEAT to our advantage, though!!!

The heat is a definite advantage, however last season injurites killed us in the running back position so we didn't have much of a choice to run the ball much. Gorman did ok for what he could but he's not the guy we would want taking the majority of the handoffs. We're probably going to continue to be a passing team unless someone is making it really easy to run the ball (I.E. Jacksonville).
