Bowling Green, Ky. — Western Kentucky University head coach David Elson announced Thursday that Deion Holts has enrolled in school and will walk on to the football team when preseason camp opens in August.
Holts, a 6-foot-2, 250-pound outside linebacker, graduated from Bowling Green’s Warren Central High School before attending Kentucky the last three years. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, as he was a redshirt with the Wildcats in 2001.
Last fall, Holts played in 11 of 12 contests with five starts, recording 52 total tackles while tying for the team lead with 4.5 sacks. He also ranked third on the squad with 8.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage, forced one fumble and recovered another. Holts posted eight tackles including three sacks (22 yds) in a win over Indiana, had five stops against Florida and seven vs. South Carolina.
He was selected to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team in 2002 after recording 30 tackles — including a sack — while playing on the defensive line. Holts also posted two passes defended, a fumble caused and a blocked kick. He had three stops in five consecutive conference games before collecting a season-best five against Louisiana State.
Holts was a three-year starter at Warren Central HS, where he was selected honorable mention all-state as a senior.
“We are excited to be able to have a player of Deion’s caliber join the program,

We learned (in basketball) this past season that guys who are problems are not worth having. It sounds like your coach will not put up with any crap, Of course Holt is innocent until proven guilty.

Check out the last article linked by Hilltopper 2K, it's doubtful in my opinion, that we ever see Holts in a WKU uniform.

I tend to agree hound. Take your lumps and weed out the bad ones. Get good ones next year.
