MURFREESBORO - Middle Tennessee head men's basketball coach Kermit Davis has announced assistant coaches Tres Chapman and Jeff Walker have left the Blue Raider staff to pursue other opportunities.

Chapman has accepted a high school teaching position in the Phoenix, Arizona area, while Walker has accepted the position of head men's basketball coach and athletics director at Crichton College in Memphis.

"I appreciate the efforts Jeff and Tres have made very much over the past two years," Davis said. "Our staff and players would like to wish them well."

Walker and Chapman were original members of Davis' first staff and helped to lead the Blue Raiders to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since the 1996-97, 1997-98.

Davis said he already has had numerous inquiries regarding the staff openings.

"I think there's been a great interest in our two openings," Davis said. "I think people recognize where our basketball program is going and, secondly, I believe people understand the quality of life in Murfreesboro and the movement Middle Tennessee has made as an academic institution, so I think we will attract two good coaches."
