MANHATTAN, Kan. — Although Saturday’s game-time temperature was announced at 88 degrees on a cloudless day, Kansas State coach Bill Snyder elected to wear a zip-up jacket on the sideline.
Probably already hot under the collar, Western Kentucky made Snyder and defending Big 12 champion Kansas State sweat even more.
The Hilltoppers, No. 13 in I-AA, were within a touchdown of the Wildcats in the fourth quarter before eventually succumbing to Kansas State 27-13 in front of 46,740 fans at KSU Stadium.

MANHATTAN, Kan. — It was announced to the fans at KSU Stadium that Western Kentucky had won the opening coin toss and elected to defer. But WKU ended up kicking off to open both the first and second halves of its 27-13 loss at Kansas State on Saturday night.
Some type of communication breakdown apparently happened, but what exactly took place wasn’t completely clear.
