This is from the Summer "Kent Stater" (7/24/02)

"The east portion of Dix Stadium had to be demolished because of the amount of wear on the bleachers. David Creamer, vice president of administration, said new bleachers will be built and should be completed by fall of 2003."

The article did not go into any detail of the type of "new" bleacher replacement. The article
further said that the age of the bleachers played
a part of the deision.

...........
Hope they do this right, and give the University
and supporting community something that will draw
attention to the atheltic program.

Thanks for the update. Let's hope that they consider a more comprehensive structure that just high school bleachers. Check out the YSU "away" stands in this link. I have been there and they are nice. Not a bad model for KSU to use.

Just wanted to let you all know what is going to be done in the old visiting seating section. I heard that for at least this year there are going to be a few rows of seat backs, then behind them there will be corporate hospitality suites. This is an effort to take advantage of the momentum we gained after last season and gain more corporate sponsorships.

By the way, the visitors will be seated in one of the end zones. Even when the permanent stands are up, visitors will be given less prime seating. No longer will visiting fans be sitting on the fifty yard line.

Sounds great. However, I doubt that the visiters will choose to sit in the end zone. My guess is that they will opt for the west grandstands.

Any word on what the permanent structure will look like?
