YO! YO! YO! What up Monroe? Let me tell you something Monroe Slavin or should I say Mr. OHIO FOOTBALL. Jim Grobe and Brian Knorr are not the freaking answer. The triple option philosophy is not going to win us a MAC title. Grobe left because he saw the writing on the wall. He took this program as far as he could take it. If you can't throw the football your not going to win a title. When you run the ball up the middle on 3rd and 5 and 3rd and ten your pretty pathetic. Have some nads and jump off the OHIO FOOTBALL bandwagon. They need a coach with an offensive mind who throws the darn ball. 3-ball

The option is fine, we just need a quarterback that can throw the ball on 3rd down. Kareem Jackson wasn't the answer, Dontrell Jackson isn't either. Nor is Kareem Dontrell, we need a drop back passer at shotgun. If he's not mobile, so what, have the blocking RB protect the passing pocket. No more of this Running Back for QB stuff.

Very easier said than done in switching from an option to a passing attack (or to a system where passing is incorporated slightly more in the system). The main reason is this: for several years now, our O-lineman CAN NOT pass block. At times, when the other defense pins their ears back, and comes at us it's like watching a Pee Wee league team protect their QB. And even if the other teams' defense doesn't all-out blitz us, it is still a nightmare. Until we somewhat learn to pass block, our passing offense will continue to suffer.
I remember from maybe '97 or '98 when we subbed Bo Orlando or someone in for Kareem, and he got sacked 3 straight times.....it was something like 4th and 43 when we punted.

What drives me nuts about the option is that you can tell by the first quarter if the other team has figured out how to stop it. Then, as a fan, you spend the whole game in complete agony as you lose more and more yardage.
I remember watching the OU-Marshall game a few years ago when it was clear Marshall was having no problem with the option. Then OU brought in their "passing" QB. BLITZ, BLITZ, BLITZ= Death.

Redhawk 86'd you are right about OHIO FOOTBALL being very poor at pass blocking. I understand that our o-linemen are chosen for their run blocking ability in option football. I presume that puts an emphasis on speed over size. But how can we be so pitiful at pass blocking. What is practice for? I know practice is not the same as a game situation but when we pass block it looks like we've never never never done it before. How can we be that bad at it? Doesn't strike me that pass blocking is as complicated as putting a man on the moon.
Oh, we need to get together to compile a full team of surgeons in order to help 3ball achieve a minor, tangential relationship with reality.
Also, anyone recognize what language kitcat is trying to communicate in?
