Is Akron the same Akron that LeBron James, HS superstar, lives in?

Yep, Akron is the home of high school phenom. LeBron James.

Akron St. Vincent-St.Mary's High School

He's so popular his team must play in J.A.R. Arena (Univeristy of Akron basketball arena)

He draws more media coverage, that's for sure.

I was rolling through Ohio about midway through the high school basketball playoffs there. The Plain Dealer was running charts with circles on a basketball court showing EACH SHOT LeBron attempted. The circles were darkened if he made the shots.

LeBron's high school team could be outdrawing Akron in basketball, but then Akron hasn't done anything in basketball since joining the MAC about ten years ago. I understand they Zips did make the NCAA tournament once, but I forget what conference it was with.

Another note: It's the James A. Rhodes Arena, but everyone just calls it the JAR, pronouced "jar."
