The Ugly: see my title line. If our punt protection doesn't break down twice, we might have been tied at the end of regulation!
The Bad: Maestro Josh Harris personally burned us time-and-again. :( I haven't seen a misdirection offense run that well in forever. It's frustrating to defend and close to impossible to stop. Harris also escapes pressure as well as Houdini ever did. So many times, we thought we had the ball carrier, only to see the REAL ball carrier -- usually Harris -- running a different direction.
The Good: Our defense gave up only 35 points to an offense averaging 50 (one TD was a recovered blocked punt, one FG was set up by the other blocked punt). Our offense also put up 35 points, which is seven more than anyone else has scored against the Falcons. Derek Vickers used both arm and legs to burn the Falcon D and has returned to pre-BC game form.
Bottom-line, BGSU was just a little better than us today, and while that's frustrating, it's also somewhat encouraging. CMU has shown a glimpse of its potential, and DeBord has some good things to teach from and build-on.
