Uh oh, MAC getting more good press? BCS teams better hurry up and find another way to shut the MAC down.

I'll tell ya...the Cleveland PD has been pretty good about covering the MAC recently. The Akron Beacon Journal stinks compared to the PD.
Flash, I saw the article today and was impressed...Elton Alexander does a great job as MAC beat writer.
I emailed him to say so and also asked why Josh Harris and Talmadge Hill (ball St) weren't mentioned in the article. He said since Harris split time with Andy Sahm, he wasn't truly the starter (which is true).
Good article anyway! GO BG!! GO MAC!!

Falcon Freak:

I actually don't like his coverage of Kent State. He usually has a very negative attitude toward KSU and gives me the impression that he really doesn't like the MAC beat. His coverage of the individual teams (KSU/Akron)is not very in depth and he seems only to be allowed one article per week in order to cover both schools and the conference. No sufficient. On the other hand, the PD has a full time reporter in C-bus to cover tOSU.

But you can't take that out on Elton personally. He's following marching orders. His job is to cover the MAC and it probably includes a few other things. He just doesn't have the time. It's an institutional decision and -- in light of how Kent and Akron have played the last few years I don't blame the P-D.

Kent State's Elite Eight run may have helped. I do sense a difference in the pub this year, not just in Cleveland, but all over the place.

Fair enough about the overall coverage, but I found his attitude about KSU in the past to be fairly negative.

Interestingly enough, the Columbus Dispatch has a guy named Mark Znidnar(sp?)who covers the MAC that does a pretty good job. Seems odd, but I think it has alot to do with the fact that Columbus is College Football town. Let's face it, the PD and BJ knows Pro Sports coverage sells papers. Especially at the BJ where they have gone from one of America's greatest local newspapers to a corporate owned, cost-cutting, sensational after thought.

The Dispatch's College Football preview comes out today, I believe. Those who can get it, I suggest you check it out. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Mark Znidar does a fine enough job, no doubt - the problem is, he's the only one there that does any real coverage. Thus, it's generally very thin. Nice preview today, nonetheless.

Don't be fooled into thinking all their football coverage isn't ruled by the suckholes, though. Anyone remember last year's preview? It usually comes out the day before osu finally plays and last year, I think there were four MAC games before they bothered to put up the preview. The sucks actually started a little later.

Flash,
Fair enough...You could be right about his attitude toward Kent/Akron...Which I wouldn't understand since they are both in the PD's back yard. Hard to say but at least the coverage is there.

MACBuck....You are so right about the ABJ...it USED to be a great paper...Now it is getting worse every year. I am sure John Knight would be less than happy nowadays.

Ah yes, corporate America strikes again!!!

GO BG!

Roberto - Good point....I guess my OSU ties influences my opinion of The Dispatch from time to time. But at least we agree on Znidar's work.

Falconfreak - It's a shame what has happened to the ABJ. A company called Ohio Periodicals (or something like that) delivers daily papers from all around the state to Columbus. About a year or so ago, I guess the Beacon decided this was too costly and now they are about the only large paper in the state that is unavailable here. I guess it's no big loss, but it's sad to see. Has High School coverage begun to lack as well? How was the High School preview?
