There have been several posts that wonder why WKU fans are always talking about going to the MAC. Remember its not like we are starting the MAC rumors. We are responding to the reports from the media. First a radio station then the Philly Newspaper. First off there is not one current SBC member that would not jump at a CUSA invite. Now many of the fans from other Sun Belt schools wonder why WKU fans think they deserve better than the SBC and ask why? Well here goes:
First, All of our stats on the Winingest program When you look at the lists for the Top programs, most wins, best win percentage, most conference wins, and the latest all time programs, virtually every other school listed among us is in a higher profile conference. (We were by far the best program in the OVC and we are the best program in the SBC) We may not be the best program this year but no one can question our long term success. But what has happened is most of the old SBC left and the new SBC first merged with the American South and then replaced them with Trans America (now called the Atlantic Sun. (UALR,TROY,FIU,FAU) We have seen other schools with not near our accomplishments go to BCS conferences, And of course we have had UL and UK work against us. I applaud the Governor of Virginia who told the ACC: Virginia votes "no" to ACC expansion unless Virginia Tech comes in instead of Syracuse. But we have had UL keeping us out of the Metro and CUSA. This stupid mentality probably cost Louisville a pro basketball team as well. How come in the state of North Carolina you can have 4 schools all in the same 1A conference. So now next year we will see the biggest shift in schools ever and WKU is not a part of that and we are frustrated. We are not alone in this, all schools in the SBC are kept in check by the flagship universities in their states. What troubles many of us is 1. That most if not all schools in the SBC are looking for a better place. 2. Even our newest members in the conference. (Howard Snellenburger at FAU recently said "you are never going to win a national championship as a member of the Sun Belt Conference."
FAU has not played one conference game yet !!!!

MAC schools are not 'flagship schools' in their states either and you will never win the NC in MAC FB or BB. There is little difference in these non-BCS conferences (SBC, MAC, WAC). CUSA and the MWC are only slightly better perceived nationally. They are all mid-majors wanting to move up to BCS conferences.
