The demonstration put on by the fans at the MACC Center tonight was an embarrassment to KSU Athletics. Not only were the handfull of idiots behind the Akron bench bad enough, but to have one of the big-wig KSU donors try and trip an official is off the charts. Guess losing 6 of your last 7 games and getting a beating from your arch rival will make you do crazy things. No class at all! 05-nono

I was not at the game, so can't validate your story. I am sure KSU has some idiots in the stands and when idiots get frustrated (re: your comments about the slide and losing to Akron at home) stupid things happen.

We are not all bad. Akron deserves props for coming in and whooping us. Good run by the Zips over the last three games, and things look good for you next year, too. 2004 should be a very interesting MAC season.

Isn't that one of those generic posts we saw a week or so ago:

"I can't believe how bad you (fill in opposing school) fans are. First you have the idiots behind the coaches bench saying (fill in appropriate epithets) in front of families of our players who were sitting nearby. But also some of the other (school name) fans were also (fill in behavior). I was appalled! And you also complained about the officiating!
(Mascot name) fan just have no class. You should come to (poster's arena) and see how real fans act: language and behavior are always appropriate and respectful no matter how frustrated we are by (choose one: the unfairness of the officials, our poor record, your obnoxious fans, your dirty players)."

Get out more!
:D

My thoughts exactly axeme ...

Fact is, there are some in every crowd. Doesn't mean I condone it, nor like it, but this post truly has no relevance.

Congrats to Akron for whooping our arse.

Believe it or not the "idiot" behind the opposing bench is an accounting teacher at Kent. Pretty sure he knows nothing about basketball but likes to harass the other team.

The people around us were complaining about the refs, which is ludicrious. Akron deserved everything they got and the refs not no effect on the outcome of the game

We lost because our coach (who was out of basketball for 2 of the last 3 years) got thoroughly out coached. Akron played a zone and you would have thought never played against a zone before. it took them 20 seconds on each possession to figure out where they were supposed to stand.

Laing Kennedy you've had a good run, but you majorily blew it with this coach.

We have to hope that this coach, who is a rookie, will learn on the job. I have my doubts, because I see a certain "I am right-stubbornest" in his persona. He has this team wound tight to the point that they can not create. Write this season off and hope for maturity. This is the only approach that keeps me sane. What is sad, is that this team could have been very good. 03-banghead

Wondering about Zip fans calling Kent fans classless. This seems to be a recurring theme with Akron. Hipsher has had problems at OU and BG. Taunting by Traver and Hipsher help contribute to the situation. Apparently, the Zip fans do not pay any attention to their fans located behind the baskets at the JAR. They are every bit as abusive as the Kent fans.

I hate to say this, since it's a sad reality right now at the JAR, but exactly which fans are you referring to under the basket? I've been to all the home games this season but 1 and those sections are generally empty every game? It's been a couple of years since there's been any student presence there, so I'm not sure which fans have been a problem. Must be either the band or the cheerleaders I guess.

I was at the Kent game. There were a couple "wingnuts" in the stands, but 99.9% of the people were fine. The actions of a few fans don't relate to those of the masses....just like Akron Obsessed's comments are scoffed at by 99.9% of the Akron fans.

I can only dream that one day the Zip following will be of that size, and the atmosphere of the JAR be that "electric."

The Zips played the first 70% of the season in a funk. They've played better of late, but I'm nowhere near close to clearing space for any banners in the JAR rafters. Hope Kent gets there sh!t together and we meet again @ The Gund. That game would be a war!

The post game "El Biggo" burrito I had at The Loft was excellent, I might add.
