This was a pretty good game as both teams fought hard, and the score at halftime was 42-41. MTSU had a very balanced attack towards Denver, and Denver had big contributions from a few key players. MTSU did a great job in this game on both ends of the floor and got points from almost every player on the team, defense was good and they all played their roles. They held three of Denver's players scoreless, most notably, senior Erik Benzel.
Denver on the other hand, got 23 points from Yemi Nicholson as he only missed three shots, Billups put up 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists and A. Porch who was the unexpected key to this win, had the game-high 27 points, going 9-9 from the line and 8-14 from the field as Denver holds on to win 83-71 on their home floor.
MTSU could have played a little better defense to limit Nicholson on the inside, but the explosion of A.Porch is what took this game away from them. Mike Dean only took 7 shots the whole game. He needs to take at least 15 shots and get more trips to the line for MTSU to win any of these big games. They did every else right, but those few crucial errors. Good Job to Denver, as they maintain the Sunbelt West lead.
Now that MT has lost this game...I can't consider them the favorites anymore, but their next big match-up comes up against WKU on the road on the 24th. They know what they have to do, they're work is cut out for them.

Yea, they weren't that good defensively...but one statistic that stands out in this game...is the free throw differential. Denver had WAY more trips to the line than mtsu did.
