Frye won't just be hitting Sparks...I think Cherry, Irvin, and Ellington are going to each have breakout seasons.
Luckily the Zips have a more experienced O-Line this year, that should give Charlie a little more time, and hopefully Hendry can put up another 1,000+ season.
I was really excited toward the end of the year with the D changing so much. They really turned it around, and hopefully that can carry into '03. I think Chase Blackburn will have a big season as will Dwayne LeFall. The secondary looks to be a little iffy. I'm just not big on having a Sophomore leading the secondary. But then again, Charlie Frye led the Offense at that age, so maybe Hixon can step up in a big way.
I think the Zips are going to have a great season, and I'm really happy about Lee Owens returning at the helm. It would have been devastating to the team to go through all that change during the 'Charlie Frye Era'. I like Owens because of the trust he has in Frye, he believes in his arm and that showed during all of the games last season.
Go Zips!

The secondary will be improved, and you're right...the defense started looking better and better towards the end of the season. I think since they were so young it hurt them. As they gain experience they'll get better. Irvin stepped up big time this past season filling in for an injured Matt Cherry. It'll be interesting to see how teams will cover Sparks, Cherry, and Irvin, who will sometimes all be on the field at once.
Thats DANGEROUS!! :)
