If you think about it, the Zips could/probably will have the biggest offensive line in the country in a year...maybe even less depending on who plays. I think I recall as Toledo having the biggest OLine in the nation last year?

That's typical Akron recruiting, our line is always huge.

Obviously the coaching staff has done something right, my goodness!

Keith Uecker (former NFL veteran, and Zips OL coach) has done a tremendous job making these guys great.

Our offensive line was horrible last season. Remember sack-sack-sack against Miami, or sack-sack at a critical point in the UCF game? Remember the OU game?

Being extremely large is easy, being a good offensive lineman is much more difficult. We had very few big runs last year. On pass plays Frye constantly rolled out because our line couldn't hold their blocks. These guys have a lot to prove in 2003. They collectively stunk in 2002.

Wow...some big guys...I bet it wouldn't take them long to put an all-you-can-eat buffet out of buisness.

I think the most important stat to look at is their age:

Jim Borrieci--------------Junior----1 Letter
Mike Piccirillo----------- Senior----2 Letters
Aaron Feller-------------Junior----1 Letter
Aaron Conley-----------Junior----2 Letters
Bryan Shaw-------------Senior----3 Letters
Mike Grzeskowiak------Junior----2 Letters
Jud Cummins------------Senior----2 Letters

I'm sure the big guys are gonna give Hendry some huge holes to run into and hopefully give Frye a couple more seconds to stay in the pocket.

One thing that you can't teach...Experience, Experience, Experience!

Well said dr_zips, and you beat me to it.

Our OL was so darn young last year, you gotta give em a little credit. I mean, over 400 yds rushing against Liberty....even though it IS Liberty....that's still tough to accomplish.

They'll be much better...partly because a lot of those guys have gotten bigger, faster, and stronger in the offseason.
