I just got back from a shriners fundraiser in downtown Charleston, one that I didn't want to go to. My wife put in two bids on some Marshall items and got them both. First, a football signed by all of the 2002 MAC Championship Herd Football team, including Byron Leftwich. Secondly, and more valuable, a # 10 NY Jets Jersey signed by the man himself, Chad Pennington and inclosed in a nice frame. She paid 100 for the ball and 175 for the jersey. Boy, they both look good in my den, with the rest of my Herd collection. Go Herd.

Congrats Herdon.

We exchanged names for Christmas at my work place last year. The guy that got my name knows I am a huge Marshall fan. He took a football to one of the coaches and I got most of the signatures of the players and staff from last year, to include Byron.

yea, what ever, I'm sure that the job that you sit in an office and steal from your employer by posting on the internet all day really pays well. What does a state worker make in Ohio, I'm sure you are living high on the HOG.

And for the rest of you crybabies that complain about MU cheating, what about posting while getting paid to work all day, I would call that cheating, but I'm sure you can justify it somehow in your mind.

Actually we don't want to talk about state and city employees. They get paid big bucks and sit on their ******es all day long!

Are you kidding me????? Cudos to your wife!!! I can't believe both items went so cheap.

Hell, a large Daunte Culpepper Photo (signed and with documentation) went for $400 this year at the yearly golf tournament I host for a UCF shcolarship......

Man, you got a steal!!!!! Think of putting back up for bid next year and getting a big tax deduction...(eg.- this year and next year)

Just a thought......anyway....Congrads!!!

Thanks Knight Stalker, it was funny that my wife started running people off with about 15 mins to go, telling them that she was going to pay what ever it took to win them and to please not bid it up to save her money. Thank goodness from my standpoint the fundraiser was not well attended.

Hmmm. I thought the items went a little pricey, since I figure Herdon's wife was probably the only one who bid on them! 03-wink

I hope those signed items were paid for at the same price they would be if they weren't signed. Otherwise, Herdon would be confusing me since he already said in another thread that Pennington doesn't charge for autographs in Huntington.

Of course, Huntington isn't Charleston so that will probably be his reasoning. 04-drinky

RF, as usual, you are mistaking personal Greed, see Chester Fumble taylor, with a good kid that was helping a charity out by donating an item to be auctioned off. Then again, why let the facts get in the way of a pre conceived notion. Chad received nothing for his autograph, chester is fleecing his home town fans, now thats class.

Why do you act like Chester fumbles all the time?

As for the charity. Chester is giving my family charity by bringing all the UT fans into the store and having them buy merchandise. :D

Seriously though, how in the hell is $15 a ticket greed? Do you even know a thing about a sports shop bringing an athlete in? First there is the transportation costs. Then there is the general fee that goes to the agent and the player, if he is getting any money.

Most sports shops that bring a professional athlete in don't make money on the deal, they break even. However, the advertising and promotion the sports shop gets out of it does wonders for their business.

As for Chester, I have no clue if he is receiving a penny. I can tell you that it is not for charity though. Not saying that Chester never does anything for charity, because I don't know.

I am glad that Pennington has done something for charity. I am sure he will also do things that won't be for charity. And for the singings he has done for charity, don't be so sure that the place that brought him in did not pay him and just took their losses on making the autographs free. Some places do that just because of the recognition they get. Plus if it is for a charity they usually do that for free, just asking for donations or something.

Where did you go? Trying to pull up some more dirt on Chester or Toledo, or are you going to stick with the fumble thing see he actually fumbled once last season.

How about those 188 yards rushing against the Hurd in the 2001 MAC Championship Game?
