Hello People

Just a quick update here on the progress of the new East Side Stands:

They have constructed about a 3ft high wall that spans from the 20 to the other 20 (about 60 yds);
behind the small brick wall they have started to lay (construct) the base forms for the circular pillars
that will support the structure. The base concrete pillars are about 4 ft in diameter and there are 3 rows
of them lining up directly behind the wall and spanning the length of the wall and out to the inner
walkaround blacktop area. They have been working on the base support pillars for the past couple
of weeks. Just the past few days they have started to add additional support pillars between the
zero yard line and the 20 (end of the brick wall), but (so far) have only two rows of pillars in this
area. Don't take this to the bank yet - but it appears that the structure will span about the same length
as the old wooden bleachers did and possibly be higher in between the 20 yard line section and
smaller on the ends.

I'll check back in a couple of weeks - Go Flashes!!

Thanks again for the update. If you can get any pictures posted that would be great. Let's hope that they come up with a plan to fill them for 9/13.
Go Flashes!

Thanks for the updates. They are appreciated.

Do you think they can have this completed by the home opener?????

1. I think that they must have them done by the opener. It will be a bit pointless after that.

2. It will depend on the weather improving in June and July. I have some contractors scheduled to do some concrete and other work on my home and they are way backed up because of the rain. It may be the same here.

The interesting question is where are they putting the students. Originally, I think that they planned on putting them in this section. It would be good to have them between the 20s rather than in the end zones. However, the NCAA just ruled that students cannot sit behind the opposing bench. OU moved their students for this fall. 03-banghead

Thanks Flash. I hadn't heard of that NCAA ruling. Looks like the behind the visitors bench Greek party at Oxford is over. Thank God.....

Here's a link to the article I saw this in. It's actually a MAC rule not an NCAA rule. It appears to be in response to the MUr/MUg incident last year. Sucks for KSU though...

They are replacing the seats that were torn down before last season. The total capacity at Dix will be less in 2003 than in 2001. These seats are between the 20s. The end zone seats are horrible and useless.

Hey, at least we are improving our stadium. That's more than can be said for that cess pool the Zips play in. 03-razz

FYI Flash fans,

I emailed the SID and they only have blueprints of the new stands and no architect's renderings. As such, there is nothing that they can post on the website to show what the final product will look like. Blueprints don't post well.

The mystery will continue until Sept...

Both of our attendence records suck....maybe we should join schools...think about THAT!! I mean...we're so darn close..its kind of ridiculous...just join schools...we'd be a powerhouse!!! We'd be OSU rivals!

We'd totally dominate in basketball....baseball.....we'd definitely be contenders in football...and Kent is good in lots of womens sports as well (our ladies hoops team could use yours!)

That's a great idea! Join both fan bases....average 20,000+ a game...not too shabby!

04-rock Hey...........I think some years back (many years) old gov James Rhodes suggested the very
same idea------> to combine the two schools to create what he said would be another big
Ohio sports university that could compete at the Big-Time level. I believe he thought it would
be great for the state to have another big school other than the Buckeyes.

But since Kent has alway been the dominate school it would be only right to keep the name
the same.
