Oh, and here are a "few bad apples":

Bob Pruett (NCAA Probation, Academic Fraud)
Rick Huckaby (NCAA Probation)
Dennis Thornton (Soliciting a prostitute)
Garrett Morrison (Domestic assault, Battery)
Stan "Designated Driver" Hill (Fleeing the scene,Resisting arrest)
Bobby Addison (Assault w/ a deadly weapon)
Doug Chapman (DUI)
Tamar Slay (DUI)
Randy Moss (Assault, Possesion)
Skip Henderson (Fraud)
Max Yates (Battery....against a woman. Twice. But it got him on the cover of the media guide)
Carlos Smith (assault and battery)
Richard Wilson (Assault on a police officer)

To name just a few.

Well, I kind doubt that our Coaches are "selling" our program based on our win over the Herd, partly 'cause it was a few years back (ouch!).

But seriously, though, programs like Toledo and Miami sell their programs partly based on OOC schedule (both home and away) against the "big boyz". It also helps that both programs have made a history of knocking off those "big boyz" every couple of years, even the ranked ones.

I can't list all the UT, WMU, BG and OU recent wins over BCS programs, but I do seem to recall Marshall beating Clemson a couple years back. All Miami has done in the last 7 years is beat the Big Ten champ (95), #10 V-Tech (97) and #20 UNC (98), along with Northwestern (99), Vanderbilt (00), and UNC again (02). We lost by a TD to a top 10 type Iowa last year as well after leading deep into the 3rd quarter. Hey, we even tied the "Ears' back in 92.

Of course it'd sure be nice to win a MAC title again (in my lifetime!), but the Roman Army "tag" doesn't quite fit when you compare our record against BCS and ranked BCS teams vs. even the Herd.

Toledo actually beat Marshall in 2001 too, you remember.....the one MAC Championship Game that wasn't hosted in Huntington.

And we do not sell that win to our recruits. We sell our 24-6 win @ Penn State, our 38-7 win @ Minnesota, our 3-2 record against Big Ten teams since 1997, our 9 MAC Championships, being ranked 4 of the last 7 seasons, and home games in recent years against Indiana, Purdue, Syracuse, Minnesota, and now Pittsburgh this season.

Excuse me. I checked on rankings in polls and found two rankings in last seven years:
1995 11-0-1 24 24

2001 10-2-0 23 22

What other years? Also, what years do you count as championship years? I found 7 and one co-champioship. I also found that Marshall has won five of six champioships since joining the MAC. I wish Toledo good luck this year and I hope you go 11-2/

We have been ranked in years we did not finish the season ranked. When I said ranked, I never said ended the season ranked. In 1997 we started 8-0 and were 18th before losing at Ball State. In 2000 we finished 24th or 25th with a 10-1 record. Also in 1995 and 2001 like you said.

Now I realize I didn't add last year to the equation so it is ranked 4 of the last 8 years now.

MAC Championships
1967
1969
1970
1971
1981
1984
1990 - Co-champions with CMU
1995
2001

Marshall's 5 of 6 I did not dispute, I did say that all 5 were won at home and the only loss was your only Championship Game that wasn't played on your home field. Toledo won 4 out of 5 (67, 69, 70, 71) before so congrats on 1 more during a 6 year span. From 67-71 Toledo was 49-9, add '72 to the picture to make it a 6 year span to compare and the record is 55-14. From 1997-2002, Marshall was 65-13. The main difference is that Marshall played 9 more games in that 6 year span. 1 less loss isn't much of a difference.

Miami won 4 out of 5 championships from 73-77. Add in '78 and their record for that 6 year span was 53-12-2. Again, less games played in a 6 year span, but 1 less loss than Marshall. So why do you guys think that what you have done is so much better than anyone else in the MAC?

Thanks for proving my point oddball.

I do seem to remember the "RAPIST" RB by the name of Troy Parker.
You know, the Toledo RB who got about 65 years in prison for calling his girlfriend's house leaving a incriminating "rape threat message" on the answering machine, then going to the house, breaking his way in and raping her.

Do any Rocket fans want to comment on that??

And don't even try denying it because I know for a FACT it was Troy Parker because he was from Portsmouth, Ohio. A town I know all too well. A town that has current players on Toledo's roster...........one guy's name is RJ and I believe BG's Mike Malone's little brother, Anthony Malone. Plus, Toledo was after another PHS RB by the name of Jo Jo Parker. Parker is currently attending a smaller division school because of "GRADE PROBLEMS". Rumor is that Toledo has hooked him up with this small college deal to get him on the Rocket roster in 2 years.

I'm not saying this to knock any of these players. just proving my point that every team has their bad apples and every team takes chances on players.
And if I was really obsessed like the little shorty midget, I'm sure I could do extensive search and come up with more things on any school.

I will comment on Jo Jo Parker.......I can assure you that Toledo never offered a scholarship to Jo Jo Parker. What does 1 person that had bad grades that Toledo looked at but didn't offer have to do with anything? How many props does Marshall recruit?

Another hillbilly jack****** trying to point to one or two vague incidents, some unsubstantiated, at best, to justify the PATTERN of behaviour from their group of criminals. The Jo Jo Parker stuff is an out and out lie, btw. With all of the lying that you folks do, you'd think that you would be better at it.

Face facts, Gomer, the ENTIRE MAC put together, in it's ENTIRE COMBINED history has had as many major run-ins with the NCAA as Marshall has had on their own. We won't even get into the severity of the infractions. The same goes for run-ins with the law. Just guessing, but I'd bet that Marshall has more criminal activity among its players per year than the entire conference combined. However, I'm 100% sure that the rest of the MAC leads Marshall in actual punishments handed out.

Funny, that loss doesn't seem to have dampered anyone's enthusiasm over our 2002 season or the prospects of our 2003 season.

Toledo did in fact offer Parker a scholarship you fools. I am from Portsmouth. I KNOW THIS!!!!! And when it was obvious he didn't make the grades, he amazingly found a smaller division school to go to. Check your roster after this year. He should be a Rocket then because this is his 2nd year at the small college.

I tell you what oddball, why don't you bring your little coward arse to Huntington and tell me $hit like that to my face. It's time to back up what you say.
I'm calling your little arse out right now.
I am no hillbilly, you dumb biyatch. I am from a city many many times bigger than that $hithole you call Toledo.
A Toledo player (star RB) getting 65 years for breaking in a house and RAPING a woman is a "VAGUE INCIDENT"?? You are truly mental.
Like I said, please bring your self to Huntington and bring all your friends too.
I will gladly get this party started for you.
So are you accepting my invitation to my "party"? Or are you just a little coward with a big mouth who hides at home behind his woman's ankles??
No more name calling. Just calling you out.

Don't believe everything you hear.....Toledo did not officially offer Parker a scholarship, although I believe Cincinnati did.

As for Troy Parker......He was a star at Toledo? No, not a star player.

Down Boy, take it easy. You're letting it get to you. Repeat after me. "It is only a message board, it's only a message board"

There you feel better now?

Hey you say you're from the Portsmouth area? Me too. Glad to see another Herd fan from the area. The Herd's presence is growing around here.

Troy Parker had been out of school for quite some time when this all took place. The difference Oddball was pointing out was that the players from MU that he listed were all active roster players at the time of their little incidents. There's a wee bit of difference. :withstupid:

We're just as excited about defending our title this year.

Except that Randy Moss was not at Marshall when his troubles happened.

And Carlos Smith's arrest came from an incident that happened after the end of his career.

And Skip Henderson? When was he arrested for fraud while at Marshall? Oh, that's right, he wasn't. Oh.

Sorry. I hate to break up your little circle jerk. 05-nono
