I posted this over on the main MAc Board:
AkronObsessed Wrote:Since I think Akron will be in the MAC East title hunt, I'm hoping for 20,000 avg. I know it's pushing it, but the Akron market-men have been doing a very good job at spreading the word....and the Howard game being a Rubber City Classic game...I think we could get a decent crowd for that also. The Kent crowd will be over 20k
I think that Akron has the potential to perennially draw >20K. If you are ever able to become "Akron's team" similar to Toledo, Marshall and WMU, the Zips have a solid chance at beating the 15K requirement without trouble.
The problem I see is that I don't believe that NE Ohio has room for 3 teams to draw in excess of 15K. So if YSU and Akron do, that leaves KSU to struggle as they always have unless they can routinely win, which they have NEVER done.
KSU should never have allowed Akron into the MAC. It destroyed any recruiting or marketing advantages they may have had.
We'll see what the future brings...

If they have a good year like I hope, they will top 18,000 avg. I really want to see the Bowl sold out! UCF is probably our best chance.

Welcome aboard!
I agree...the UCF game has a great possibility of being a huge game for both teams, depending on where they stand in the MAC East before the clash.
