**Even he sees Akron is scared to play YSU & Cal Poly has a good shot at beating the Zips**

Howard (0-2) at Akron (1-2), 70 p.m. Former OVC member and current I-A bottom-feeder Akron is either smart enough or scared enough to never schedule quality I-AA competition. The Zips had perennial I-AA beggar Liberty on the slate last year, but you don

Obviously, posted from the Ytown rag by a Penguin. You don't even know how Howard got on our schedule nor why. Personally, I think YSU/UA annual game would be good for Northeast Ohio footballl. But please understand your facts before you come here and start blasting

Here's the facts, not a Ytown pub but from SportsNetwork. Blurb about Akron game is about halfway down.

"Howard will have to stop quarterback Charlie Frye, who has thrown for over 1,000 yards already this season and is completing nearly 70 percent of his passes. I see the Bison having trouble with the impressive Frye this week, and am looking for a three-to-four touchdown Akron triumph. "

3-4 touchdown Akron win sounds about right. BTW, who is YSU's QB? (I'm sure I don't know) Would he rank highly on the Div. I-A stage?

My point is Akron is playing a nobody, might as well be playing a DII. The defenses in the MAC are so bad no wonder Frye has padded stats. And beating EMU by 7?! YSU Gateway fellow member Western Illinois beat them by 22. Akron would be lucky to finish in the middle of the Gateway. Anyway, cya in IAA in a couple years, maybe we'll be able to renew the YSU-Akron rivalry then.

BTW - if not for costly TO's and horrible officiating YSU should have beat Kent. But all the credit to Kent.

Well put axeme. Kinda funny how short the Zips memory can be. :D
I guess that's what happens to you when you live in the twisted reality that Owens has created.

Keep drinking the kool-Aid Akron and everything will be just fine.

Now do you see why I typically don't post over here? Can we get an "I'm NOT with stupid" emoticon on this board? I guess this is the best I can muster: 03-banghead

I agree with you AO. Losing to Kent by 3 will be the highlight of Youngstown's season but losing to Kent by 3 will be Akron's low point. And I still don't know who their quarterback is despite having asked although they seem to be well acquainted with Charlie Frye even though they haven't played us.

I also love the irony of I-AA YSU fans coming to the I-A MAC board to rag on the Zips by posting an article predicting a 3-4 touchdown victory by the Zips over their I-AA brethren. And crying the blues because Akron ignores them after Akron goes from Div. II in the 70's to I-AA, then to I-A INDEPENDENT (after a snub from the MAC) in the 80's. Meanwhile YSU has I-A players and facilities but apparently prefers the safety and obscurity of the Gateway conf.

KSU, well they win the battle of NE Ohio this year with a pair of late field goals and are trying hard to feel good and not guilty about it (congratulations but to get a 04-bow it will need to be more than a 6 point margin). Hopefully the NE OH banner-carriers can make a little better showing in PA this time against a downtrodden Penn St. team than they did against Pitt. Good luck Flashes! We'll do our best against the Howard band to make you proud :D

Zippy - YSU's quarterback is sophomore Aaron Marshall. No he is not as good as Charlie Frye. We would love to have Charlie.

YSU doesn't play Akron because your coach is afraid to play them. Lee Owens cancelled that series, not YSU. Coach Pees said after the game Saturday (in Sunday's Warren Tribune) that Akron is afraid to play YSU. Pretty bad when a coach in your conference calls you out.

As far as why we are in I-AA: YSU tried to get in the MAC. You guys said no. No sense in going I-A without a conference. Hell - if you are not in the BCS, why go I-A anyway?

We don't have I-A facilities. A 20k stadium is not a I-A facility. It might be better than your place, but for several years you needed a seating capacity fo 30k to be I-A. I don't know that we can do that.

Why do we come over here and rag on Akron? Because your coach ended a great series because he couldn't handle always losing to a team with 22 less scholarships. At least Kent has the balls to play YSU. They are also bright enough to understand that it puts people into your stadium.

I am sure you guys will pack it in for Howard and Cal Poly. Unless you give away tickets, maybe 8k or 10k in the stands? I am sure if you guys knew Cal Poly was going to beat UTEP, you would have never put them on the schedule.

If losing to Kent by 3 is the highlight of YSU's season, then we will have a new coach next year. Playing meaningful games in November and December is what is the highlight of YSU's season.

Dean Pees knows jack squat about Akron, which shows in his overall record against the Zips. He was probably still drunk after finally beating the Zips, and didn't remember he wasn't supposed to say such things.

Yeah, Akron is afraid of YSU, but yet we schedule teams such as Maryland, Iowa, Virginia, Wisconson, yadda yadda yadda....UH OH LOOK OUT!!! ITS THE 1-AA PENGUINS!!

Yup we're definitely afraid of you guys - hopefully we'll never have you on the schedule...I'm afraid that we'd only beat you by 30 points instead of 40  03-lol 04-drinky
