From the latest installment of Lee-Mail at ESPN.com:

Q: How about the Thundering Herd of Marshall! The defense was amazing against Kansas State and I wouldn't be surprised to see Darren Sproles' 77-yard performance be his worst all year. What do you think of the defense and the running game?
Aaron, Kansas City, Mo.

A: It isn't a surprise that Marshall could play with Kansas State up front, but keep in mind that that was a one-game scenario. The first Herd's first string is as good as anyone's, but they would not have enough depth to play week-in and week-out in a conference like the Big 12. That's not to take away from the accomplishment, because Marshall certainly played well and took advantage of a great opportunity, but I think Kansas State would probably win the next four against the Herd.

I am really starting to dislike that entire college gameday crew at ESPN. We already knew Herby was a dolt. I just thought Lee was a bufoon. Turns out that is being too kind. :chair: 03-nutkick

Lee Corso was always an idiot. When he coached NIU for one season (4-6-1) the year after a MAC and Cal Bowl championship season, he quit after the ninth game to coach in the USFL which then folded a year later.

I heard him being interviewed by Tony Kornheiser on ESPN Radio on Monday last and he was saying the one of the reasons that the MAC had a big week is that they can through the ball all over the field to win. I guess Einstein did'nt see that MU rushed for over 200 yards and only threw for 120. Very informed

Corso was employed at Northern Illinois. "Coach" is really a misnomer for what he did here. 03-pissed

Please add Kirk to the list of idiots. I loved his comment about the MAC couldn't win these games latter in the year. Didn't everyone start fall practice at the same time? Actually, I think marshall and toledo will be much better latter in the year. They can all kiss my ******.

They have to have excuses when dismissing the MAC's accomplishments against the so called "superior" conferences.

The MAC had a tremendous week last week and no one can dismiss that, however, the back patting soon turns to:
couldn't do it week after week
other teams were looking ahead
injuries
or like Kirk, saying the MAC couldn't win these games later in the year. BS!!

Northern Illinois took it to Maryland, then Alabama and they are getting ready to whip Iowa State tomorrow. The Huskies beat Wake Forest last year and lost to Wisconsin by three points with some crappy officiating (although I didn't see the game and I'm not blaming the refs). I don't see how in the world the Huskies were able to sneak up on anyone this year...or any of those teams were overlooking them.

I'm just anxious to see these guys eat crow when the excuse well runs dry. Go MAC!!

Perhaps Kirk believes that BCS players are so much dumber than non-BCS players that it takes them more weeks of the season to learn the playbook.

Hey, I've been to Columbus. It seems plausible to me.
