Doodoo, please manage to get your facts straight. YOU called out Akron academics, I merely told you to check out the All Academic MAC comparasion between the Miami's and the Akron's. I notice that you did not respond to that but instead started a rant about amount of giving and law school admissions.

This arguement is fruitless for either of us. You choose to question my loyalty to OU. Since I do not know you personally, and frankly do not have a desire to, I failed to mention that I am also an alum of The Ohio State University, a donor , member of the President's Club and a season ticket holder for football since 1972. Do you want to take a run at me for that???

A fan is a fan , is a fan, is a fan. Why can't I make the drive to Oxford to watch a football game? Why cant I complain about the behavior of spoiled college kids???

Oh by the way, I can give you the names of some Akron players who left the field immediately after the game and did not shake hands with any Miami players because of things they (Miami) were doing in the pileups at the end of the game. Very unsportsman- like if you ask me , but then I am a product of OU/OSU and an Akron fan not a blue-blooded Miami product.

I've had enough of your crap. Take your lickin in the responses to your assertions by my collegues here , put your tail between your legs and go away.

Oh BTW, please check your work before posting, you have too many spelling errors.

Dodo Wrote:I truly apologize if Miami fans were crass.  Not to make excuses, but I did hear a similar story, and it involved Tallawanda HS students, not Miami students.  However, I think in our current cultural climate, our college student think that trash-talking and rudeness is the way to act at a football game.  And why not?  Every part of our media celebrates that kind of behavior.

I DO get annoyed in Yager, though, with the "blue hairs" constantly telling everyone to sit down (I understand that standing on a seat is a different matter).  If you don't want to stand during a game, stay home on your couch.  I ran into the same thing at Bobby Dodd (Georgia Tech) a few weekends ago for the Auburn game.  Here was an exciting play, and I've got some geezer (and I'm not young) yelling at me from behind to sit down.  I gave them a polite piece of my mind.

Anyway, I hope your overall experience at Miami was pleasant.

Yeah, my initial post cleary deserved an attack.

What set you off was that I "called you out" for being disloyal to your alma mater. Obviously, I hit a raw nerve. That was, in retrospect, uncalled for. I guess being a MAC fan, and seeing everyone root for the Ohio State at the expense of their own schools (most of whom play pretty darn good football and probably do a better job than OSU in the classroom) makes me a little peeved. Also, I've been to enough SEC and ACC games to know that Miami fans are absolutely tame in comparision to just about any other stadium I've visited. So, frankly, while I don't doubt that there were some rude, drunk kids in front of you in Oxford, your "ability" to draw a connection between that and the entire student body at Miami is, frankly, really stupid. I mean, it is REALLY, REALLY ignorant. Do I make myself clear? It's also insulting, and when you spew crap like that, you should expect to get it in kind. In your heart of hearts, you know my African-American analogy above is valid.

Who said I went to school at all? Or is that info you need in order to make some value judgments?
Undergrad at UGA, Grad at BG.
I have zero loyalty to the Dawgs, though I enjoyed my time at school there. Just couldn't get into that runaway program.

It is quite true that your initial post on this board was unworthy of any hostility. You did then fall into the trap of equating grammar with intellect, as well as taking a rather small view of schools with open undergrad admissions. A student from Ohio who was interested in, say, polymer sciences would be foolish not to attend Akron or OU, both of which have excellent programs.

Can't argue with that, really.

And I wasn't asking as a basis for judging you, but rather, out of curiosity. I saw some of your other posts on the main board, but you never revealed your allegience.

In fairness, I didn't quite equate grammar with intellect, what I said was:

Quote:With that kind of "classy" response, you just lost all credibility.

I apologized if you had a bad experence at Miami with the fans, and you flame.

If the tone of your responses, your grammar, and your spelling are any indication, I doubt there would even be an issue over your daughter having to decide whether to attend Miami.

The grammar and spelling, alone, did not make him lose credibility, but his tone and response, in conjunction with sentence fragments and the like, made him do so.

Again, I get a little testy, as programs like Miami and BG, which deserve support, have to put up with their own grads becoming "big donors" at OSU.

Furthermore, no shot I took at Akron was false. Some of it was all in good fun, but much of it is deserved. I'm telling you, Akron plays dirty.

Actually, I'm a little surprised I found people who care enough about Akron to get into a "smack-fest" with a Miami fan.

BTW, do you think they know that I moderate this board?
