Some time back someone asked about the status of RB Elijah Brooks. He has transferred to William & Mary for the 2004 season. I read it in an article posted about Toledo's transfers and all other 1-A transfers to 1-AA.

Too bad. Didn't he show some promise as a red shirt freshman last year?

He definitely played well this past year. Going into the year he was number 2 behind Alston. But when Alston got hurt he was able to step up and have a couple good games ... 145 yards against Youngstown, 54 against Ball State, and 70 against Buffalo. He ended up being the 2nd leading rusher behind Cribbs, 434 yards and 1 TD. As the season wore on after the Youngstown game, the coaches played Beverly and Tillman more, almost splitting the time between the three backs. But Tillman and Beverly were typical freshmen with fumbles and lack of game experience. Though Brooks was not as fast as the other two, he is a thick, strong, tough back. Now that he is gone I guess the early experience gained by the two true freshman will help this year.
