This is just another example of how akron is moving forward. People on macbbs do not have a clue on how much akron is changing. Every improvement that occurs on campus will affect athlletics and the quality of campus. I don't care what anyone says. All this attendence requirement mumbojumbo is plain bs. Akron is here to stay, and we will soon give current mac frontrunners a run for their money.

I have been at grad school at Akron for about a year now. I will say by May, it will probably have one of the nicest campuses around. All the new buildings and green space will be a perfect touch to make it feel like a complete campus. The new student union looks awesome already. What other college can you "rent" an X-box at and play? Plus the new "rec" center looks sweet and will be a HUGE improvement of the natatorium.

They only argument I have about the AK are the lack of administration and support staff. Whenever you need to get something done or learn what you need to do, it's near impossible. People always seem too busy to help and there is only ever 1 person in any office. Advising is pretty awful there to. With all that money they are spending, they should spend it on some people.

Other then that, I find the academics part to be very good; my classes have been everything they should be.

Akron is definitely on the rise when it comes to colleges. People will start to notice in the next couple of years.

Still, with all that said...

Go KSU...

This is the Akron forum...March Madness is hardly a relevant topic here this year. If you want to discuss yet another road loss or Hipsher's job status ad nauseum then by all means start a topic. I would rather focus on something positive that will improve UA's academics and (indirectly) athletics in the future.

But speaking of March, that is when they are supposed to (last I heard) begin renovations of Lee Jackson Field to add artificial and grass football practice fields so that practices can be held on campus instead of commuting the team out to the RB every day...another thing to look forward to, as well as the opening of the fieldhouse and new Student Union in May.

One of these days I will have to post the link to the video of the planned Institute for Global Business building which I believe is also supposed to be started on this year. Once this round of academic building projects is complete we can look forward to progress on a new football stadium and more JAR arena improvements.

Sure it's been a dismal hoops season but the future is bright. Hang in there, Zips fans!
