Yep. Good post appinzone.
This is the same ASU atheletic program that so many outsiders claim never wins anything but a few conference 2nd and 3rd place football slots. And tjhat we win the commish cup EVERY year only because we field more teams than the others.

I did some wrestling in my earlier years...

I always gave a good fight, but I didn't win very much...

And this is the same program that AD Jim Garner tried to eliminate while I was attending App in the early to mid '80's!! I remember that created quite a stir but Mance finally won out and the wrestling program continues to do quite well.

By the way, anyone know where Garner is now?

LC App, I think he was fairly close to being able to retire when he came to App.
Funny thing about his wanting to eliminate wrestling was that one of his buddies who hung around the Field House balcony on game days the whole Garner-Brown-Sparky era was Manny Fernandez--the quite successful former amateur wrestler and then very rich Pro-Wrestler. Mr. Roid himself.
Manny also was a $ donor to the App program in fairly hefty amounts.
I believe Manny had also been quite a FB player in Texas, too.
