I was very happy to see that the MAC got three teams in the Women's NIT, but am very puzzled on how Western Michigan got in and the the Falcons didn't. I am not complaining about Western, but BG did beat them twice and were the forth seed in the MAC tournament and Western was a five seed. Western has also lost their best player for the remainder fo the year. Can someone explain how the teams were picked?

BG was snubbed....period. I don't know how they pick the teams, though.

I suspect the OOC schedule had much to do with it. Western Michigan played Michigan, UConn, Arizona State, North Carolina, and Purdue. BG played no one of this calibre.

One of our posters on AZZ had mentioned this PRIOR to the end of the MAC tournament, BEFORE the WNIT had picked... You're probably right in your observation, but these committees traditionally had also looked to see what teams had "done lately". So, from that point, BG got the shaft. Also, the records of some of the teams that WERE placed in the tournament were MEDIOCRE at best... can't believe they ALL played a tough schedule to justify our snub. :(

BG's RPI didn't help either. BG was 104, Western 88. Drake had a record of only 16-14, but they were 2nd in the Missouri Valley Conference. That probably explains their invitation. The NIT tries to have all the major and the high mid-major conferences represented in the tourney. The MAC had 3 teams this year, the most ever. It would be wishful thinking to think we would get 4 teams in.

I may be wrong, but didn't BG play Eastern Michigan in the MAC finals? I don't follow women's basketball, but I think that is the game that I saw a portion of. I don't have time to research it right now, but if that is the case, I would say that with three teams going from the MAC, that your falcons should definitely be one of them.

I understand that Western had a tougher schedule, but they didn't win any of those tough games, but BG did beat Western TWICE!!!
There is something wrong with that thinking!

Rocket,
You're correct in your observation about the women's team "deserving" to be in the WNIT... BTW, saw a bit of the UT-Marquette game, obviously AFTER your run to go ahead... looked like a tired bunch of rockets from what little I did see... and they sure had a tough draw, having to go to Marquette after the MAC games... Thought they looked very good at the Gund...
