The quote has a very definite past tense in the most critical part of his statement. As I stated on MHT when the same topic came up, he makes no indication that this is the way it should be in the future.

Further, he doesn't say HOW it has been good. Good because it lets half the schools take all the money? Or good because it gets people thinking about how to crown a national champion?

Finally, if you look at Hep's comments as a whole, he is talking about having HIS
team take care of business, and not worry about things that are outside of their control. At this point, what does his program have to gain by bitching and moaning about the unfairness of the system? Are you any of you seriously proposing that all Hep has to do is moan to the press about how his program is getting ripped off, and all of a sudden, a light will go on in BCS land as all the ADs at those schools will say "golly, our system may not be fair after all. We should fix it!"

Again, I look for clickable links and hard and fast statements from St. Bobby that show that he has done so...and that it has done any good for his cause.

Frankly, I think this whole debate is an exercise in interpreting the Delphic oracle.
Your interpretation is a huge stretch.

I can't see how the BCS has been good for college football in any way, although TH is welcome to his opinion.

As for the past tense part...I think the omission of a huge BUT ("everybody's got a big but") is an indictment that he's not really criticizing the future of the BCS.

And YES I expect him to make a big deal out of the situation. "Take care of business" sounds a lot like, "I'm afraid to speak up." Make a big deal out of it! Throw down the gauntlet, "LSU's defense couldn't handle Ben...SEC W was weak..." Whatever it takes. That's the sort of attitude that will get media coverage AND eventually games on the schedule. It's time the MAC learned that the programmers don't just want a team on the field. They want personality and a story.

If the MAC won't deliver, the MAC won't get covered.

Wow, that is some far fetched thinking. The BCS will never think of, or include a mid major conference in any of their money. I expected you to not be nearly so naive and have faith in such a corrupt, greedy sysytem.

I will accept your apology graciously.
Why is the MAC not listed as a Member of the BCS...

http://www.bcsfootball.org/members.shtml

and yet the have the Sunbelt as a member conference?

Hmmmm? Anyone, Bueller?

So you suggest that we just scream louder about how we deserve respect, and it will then be given to us? Sounds like Gonzaga to me, and yet they have fallen on their faces when given the opportunities they say they deserved.

The BCS has two main issues for debate - 1) money, 2) how it determines a national champ.

Any non-BCS conference coach that is happy about the money situation is, indeed, smoking crack. I don't recall ever hearing such a coach laud the way the BCS distributes the money specifically. I have heard coaches admit that their schools don't have the budgets that the BCS conference teams do, but that's not the same thing.

As for determining a national champ, this is where I think most coaches' comments are directed. I posted this before, but I'd like to see what a poll of 1A coaches and players say about their desire for determining the national champ. Coaches and players seem to like the bowl system, which means the vocal objections to this determination reside outside of the participants. What makes the press and some fans so much smarter about how the sport should be run than those that participate? I mean besides pompousness.

Try reading it again. They're not listed as a member. The listing below the member area says "Division 1A Conference Directory". Why the MAC isn't on there, I have no idea. But don't misrepresent it to create some crazy conspiracy theory.

This is indeed a rare occassion because I find myself in complete agreement with ATO .... see no reason to call this BCS pig a beauty queen. The BCS is a bad deal, and Miami of Ohio has been screwed by the system as bad, if not worse, than any school since its inception. Could understand "no comment", but to say it's been good for college football when it's habitually pissed on the institution that's paying him his salary is beyond comprehension.
I was waiting for that to come up! :D
Meyer did the same thing. Somehow, I don't see Coach Brandon doing the same thing.

I agree...Terry should have stood up for his school and conference.

I believe the 700 Club has its own message board. This one discusses MAC sports.

Is it really too much to ask to note use that language in the presense of Christian people? It seems as though people have no problem stomping on religious courtesy, but if someone asks them to stop all of a sudden religion is "being pushed" on that person.

My spirituality prohibits people from lying about their credentials. I'd appreciate it if everyone would cease from bringing up a certain new head coach at a certain Florida school located near the middle of the state.

How is this relevant to anything we were discussing? Besides, I'm sure YOU never lied before, right?

I totally agree KT. Here at work, some folks have no problem dropping GD's and JC's and it really gets to me.

At any rate, I am not the Judge....but He is. And there are plenty of actions and words which I need forgiveness. Thank God I have a Savior in Jesus or I'd be in big trouble.

Just my beliefs....you can agree or disagree cuz it doesn't really matter to me.

Now, GO FALCONS!!!

04-bow Hey KT,,,, Thx for the support,,,,,while I can handle the vulgarity which seems to be the product of a narrow mind I do indeed take particular offense at the words spoken by DG. No hard feelings towards anyone. You do have to wonder why the boards administrators allow this to continue from certain individuals and not others. Perhaps the veiled threats from DG himself have skeered em 05-nono

I think you misunderstood DG's comments. He was making reference to the fact that the law firm he works for would get more work out of him since he wouldnt be on here during billable hours.

Incidentally, in contrast with the religious outrage that this thread spawned, do I gather from the omission of outrage by the same participants that it is OK to discuss figurative (and possibly even literal) fellatio on this forum?

Discuss.

And I'll let CE know what's going on over here...
