Defense rallies Blue to win

The Kent State defense stole the show of football’s spring practice, and the performance continued in Friday’s Blue-Gold Spring Game.
The defense on both sides forced the offenses into several negative plays, and the biggest play of all was Justin Parrish’s 66-yard interception return for a touchdown to give the Blue a 10-7 win at Dix Stadium. With the Gold leading 7-3, Gold quarterback Joey Mendoza rolled to his right and tried to lob a pass down the sideline. But Parrish jumped up and picked the pass off. After breaking through the initial line of tacklers, Parrish went all the way with 8:17 remaining in the game.
The teams, which were picked by the seniors earlier in the week, played four 12-minute quarters with a running clock. Students served as the offensive and defensive coordinators for each team.
Kent State coach Doug Martin has said big plays on defense comes from playing at a quicker pace. He said Friday was no different.

Last year's defensive coordinator? You know, with "one of the best defensive minds in the business" acording to his new boss. What was his name? :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
