Hats off to Herdfanfromohio for getting the info...............he is biting his tongue worse than me.

What Pokey is talking about is that I have heard from what I would consider a very reliable source, and I am leaving it at that, the game will probably be moved to 3:30 and shown by ABC. I have heard this from Columbus and someone who works at OSU. I have not heard this from Huntington or Marshall officials. Take it for what it is worth. I think its going to happen.

First, congrats if true.

However, it won't be a MAC first. Heck, it may not even be a first of the season, as the Miami-Michigan game is rumored to be an ABC pickup.

But Ohio and BG's previous visits to the tOAMU stadium have been ABC telecasts, and I believe one of the CMU-Michigan State games in the early 90s was, as well. And I believe there were a couple of MAC games on CBS back in the 80s.

Toledo/OSU in '98 was on ABC as well, I believe.

Also, wasn't the MACC on ABC at like 11am once?

Yeah, I think that the first MACC was on ABC, and was then moved to ESPN or the deuce after that.

In the 80's (before the big boyz sued the NCAA over TV), the MAC used to get some regional telecasts.........I was at the Miami-BG game in 1982 (both teams were undefeated coming into the game) that was telecast by CBS regionally. I think Dave Diles was the color man on the game, which was won by the good guys in red and white before an overflow crowd of 18K in our lil' ol' Miami Field (seating capacity 14.9K). Yager Stadium was built the next year.

Whipping the tar outta the Buckeyes in their own stadium on national TV has some value.

It was the 2000 MACC that was on ABC.

And it went a little something like this...

The Rockets were on several ABC regional telecasts during the 80's.
Usually it was the late game because of the Glass Bowl's lighting. Some of the games ran late and ended up being seen on the west coast. It was during the time of the MAC's deal with the California Bowl.

A few short seasons ago, UT played Penn St on either ABC or ESPN. At the same time, BG was playing UM in the Big House, also nationally televised. I had a great seat to ignore that game while I watched UT beat up PSU at Arnies :D

I'll let the green horde post until their fingers fall off about why their rumored game broadcast is better than everyone else's. (It's good to see that pokey's non-obsession with Miami is just as acute as ever.) All I'll add to the mix is to note that I watched OU play the Cow College on ABC -- and I got that broadcast on WJLA-TV here in Washington.

Yes, the Ohio State/Marshall game is set for ABC Regional TV. I have the entire MAC TV game package for 2004 and will be posting that, along with a lot of other updates, over the weekend.

By the way, OSU has played several MAC schools on ABC Regional TV over the past decade or so, for whomever believes that this may be the first time - it's not.

Also, the Minnesota/Toledo game has been officially moved from the Sunday of Labor Day, to Saturday. Evidently the Metrodome also has a Twins game scheduled that day and baseball would not move their time or change their date. Thus, the Gopher/Rocket game that was supposed to be on ESPN will no longer take place, but may get added to ESPN Game Plan for Saturday of that weekend.

Other potential "Game Plan" games/dates are being discussed, but not quite finalized yet. Through ESPN and FoxSportsNet, there are already around 14-18 games set up for national or region television. Last year the MAC had a personal conference high of 21 national or regional TV games, this year should be pretty close to that when all is said and done.

Wait a second, what...

Oh, that's right. I remember now. The MAC decided to make things fair and have Marshall "hit the road" that year.... wearing their road jerseys... in Marshall Stadium.
