The only thing I'll add is: the 13.5 point spread I saw this morning seems about right on paper. Even with a bad defense, we held BGSU to 23 last season on the road, and we seem to have an overall improved team...not to mention a better coach. Two years ago, it was just a ten point Falcons victory in Mt. Pleasant. I expect this one to be close as well.

Maybe Mikulec can add the the "fat punter" saga by cold-cocking a punt returner and causing a fumble. :D He got pretty close to one of the Kent guys, and I swear the guy stepped out when he saw Tony homing in...

Enough with the fat punter!!!! 03-banghead  03-banghead

03-wink

I expect CMU to be fired up for their HC game. My son Josh and I will be heading up Friday night and staying at the Super 8 on Mission Street.
I look forward to possibly meeting a couple of you guys that hang out here. I was there in 2002 when BG built a 31-7 lead in the 3rd only to see CMU come roaring back. Good thing Harris took over that game!

BTW, what is the best way to get next to other BG fans for tailgating?(a few beers, I am leaving the grill at home for this one since it's a 1pm kickoff) I remember in '02 the cops weren't helpful at all in directing us to other BG fans. "Just park where they tell ya" was all we got. They acted like we were a problem they didn't want to help.

Thanks in advance and GO BG!~

CMF,

I read your preview and it's very knowledgeable.

I don't think you'll see a repeat performance out of the BG defense that the NIU game showed. For some reason, our d (and whole team for that matter) didn't show up in the 2nd half. That problem has been corrected.
If CMU can't run the ball on us, it could be a long day for the Chips. The key is keeping our O off the field. OK and NIU were able to do that...
It may have only been Temple but we did contain their offense pretty well. The possible loss of Matt Leininger would be big but we have more than capable backups in Monty Cooley and others.

Offensively, BG brings a wealth of firepower into the game...Cole Magner has been hobbled by injuries but will play. Omar Jacobs continues to amaze us BG fans with his poise and understanding of the Brandon O. He could very well post better career numbers than Josh Harris by the time he's done.

BG will attempt to take the crowd out of the game early...and play its game. One area of concern for me is the penalties....TOO MANY! That needs to be corrected.

K/S Stadium looked great in 2002 (except for that turf! ) and I know my son Josh will be very excited to see the place.

C ya saturday and GO FALCONS!

Thanks, FF! I really believe that CMU's best chance lies with our big uglies against your DL. No one has been able to stop our running game, only slow it down. We definitely have a size advantage, and our guys are also fairly athletic. LT Adam Kieft is being watched closely by NFL scouts. Our TEs are experienced, and then there's a great duo in Jerry Seymour and Spencer Lewis. Toss in Kent Smith's athleticism, and I'll be impressed, if CMU doesn't gain at least 180 yards. The question that leaves is: how well can our young -- but improved -- defense contain your bunch? :blueeek: If our offense controls the ball for 32 minutes plus, I think we have a shot. In any case, it should be a good game!

All smack aside (fat punters, et al), this is ALWAYS an exciting game. I wish I could be there for the fun and great plays. Oh, and never ask a CMU cop about anything! Those curb Nazis are part of the reason for our attendance fiasco! 03-banghead Herbilini should lose his job if we go on probation!!! (Of course, I've felt that way since the logo issue blew up in his face)
