Well it comes down to the EMU game. We have averaged 14,602.5 attendance for the first four games. We need to total 75K for the season. Right now we are at 58,410. We need 16,590 to attend the last game on November 13. Hopefully a big turn out for the seniors will get it done. If you can please make plans to attend.

Attendance by game

Liberty 17,459
Akron 25,186
Marshall 9,752
Ohio 6,013
EMU ?

There is no way KSU draws that number for EMU - that is more folks than turned out for the past two games combined and those teams brought fans. No 15K for the Flashes.

Oh, I don't know Flashy... The number is certainly within reach. I would be a lot more concerned if it was something like 20K+. Now don't misunderstand, the University is really going to need to pull out all the stops to get it done, but it can be done. What needs to happen at this point is for the fans that care to show up and get it done. I know you think that dropping to 1AA would be the best thing for the program and maybe it will come to that. I happen to disagree and think that most fans (as few in numbers as we may be) feel the same way.

Reno, I don't see almost 17K for EMU. Could get better than 6K if they win at Buffalo, but not much better.

The number is what it is. My point is this, we had 17,459 for Liberty, granted a different time, but you can say we have recently put that many people in the stadium with a lesser opponent. The number is certainly within the realm of possibility. FlashFan you served on the BIS committee so you better understand the dynamics of getting that many people to turn out. The job is going to be more difficult this time, but more is at stake.

One thing I have learned about human nature is that people tend to put off until the last possible moment acting on the very things that are in their interests. Everybody waits to see if the situation changes or someone else does it for them. In this case, there is no one else and there are no more games. We either get it done or we don't. There is finally going to be a sense of urgency around this issue and hopefully the fan base and the University get it.

After this game there will be plenty of time for analysis and I told you so... right now we have two weeks to mobilize, not discourage fans. For once, lets try to surprise ourselves and rise above our expectation of failure. Let's take some pride in the University and what is a hard working, honest KSU football program. The team, coaches and especially the seniors deserve as much.

Reno, I appreciate your positive attitude and support of the University. The negativity on this board is hard for me to take sometimes but your uplifting comments are always good to read. Too bad Kent does not have more fans like you.

Keep the faith Reno!!!

I am not aware of additional promotions, Reno, but perhaps some have been planned. B.I.S. committed to Liberty, Akron and Marshall. Doesn't mean that people can't get together on a final push.

The tuition raffle will be held at halftime ( but that's been pretty well played down for some reason) as well as the raffle of one of those Euro scooters. Maybe we'll throw in some other incentives.

I just found this link for student promotions. It's on a Student Web Page, and contains promotions for students at athletic events.

<a href='http://www.kentstatesports.com/doc_lib/student_promotions.doc' target='_blank'>http://www.kentstatesports.com/doc_lib/stu..._promotions.doc</a>

If I read this right, KSU gives away $5K to a student at every game, plus airline tickets and other prizes. Didn't know this...wonder how many students know?

As a student, I think student turn out is more encouraged when everyone is included in a give away. I'm one of the few pepole who goes to every game anyways, but it'd be a lot easier for me to convence pepole to come with me if they knew they were getting a free t-shirt, thunderstix, ect, as oppossed to saying you have a 1 in 1,000 chance you'll get a chance to win $5,000 if you can throw 10 footballs through a hole in a board 30 yards away in 30 seconds. If pepole just show up, get their free t-shirt or whatever and leave, they still count.

The answer is simple.. If the same people who promoted the last 2 games, promote the EMU game, expect the same results. Theory of expectations 101. I am absolutely positive that this athletic administration finds it contemptable that they are expected to promote and run the department as a business. The revenue side ain't my job man! 03-banghead
