Great win by the Zips. You guys never gave up. I hope you take the East and wake up MAC football in NE Ohio. Plus the attendance at 29,621. That ought to help the average. Congratulations

With that said, I think it is only fitting that they played themselves out of a chance at the league title. All this shows is that the MAC shall continue to move forward with or without Marshall. Its obviously a lot more encouraging to see two teams that will still be in the league next year play for the title than one that won't be around.
You are jumping the gun just a bit. Akron has 2 tough games left(Ohio and Miami) Miami plays WMU and Akron on the road and Marshall has BGand WMU. It is still up in the air in the West.
The west is just about sealed. Toledo has to beat NIU on a weeknight in DeKalb.
Otherwise its NIU's West title.
Toledo just has to beat a team they haven't lost to since 1989 and another team they haven't lost to at home since 1994.
The West has not been decided just yet!

All well in good there RF...but the longer these winning streaks keep going, the more likely they are to be broken. It's been a couple years since UT won a game they had to have.

No it hasn't. We had to beat NIU last year because we already lost to Ball State and we couldn't lose another game and stay in the race with BG and NIU. We won that game 49-30.
The previous year (2002) we lost to Miami to fall to 3-1 and NIU was beating everyone. We knew we had to win the last 4 MAC games and we did, one at NIU and then home against BG too.

I went to the Akron Game last night, just got back this morning, some ramdon thoughts.
Traffic in was bad, I guess their only one way in/out.
That blimp hanger was very cool, I would like to see one of the blimps land at the field.
I kept looking for the stadium and didn't see it until you are walking up the hill to get in. Its kind of neat since it sits down in the ground. On the down side, hardly any restrooms or concession stands.
Security is pretty lax, I walked into the stadium and walked right onto the Marshall sideline where I stood and watched the game. No one ever asked to see a pass
Overall, I liked the stadium, kind of retro, and the fans were all pretty nice, I just wish the outcome was different. :crying:
