Motor City of course is the winner of the Miami/Toledo game
Silicon Valley...losser of the Miami/Toledo game
GMAC....NIU or Bowling Green (probably NIU but BG lobbying hard for that slot) Lets hope that Phillips is a good lobbyist)
Fourth Bowl...None for the MAC
this came from a pretty good source

If a couple of BCS teams lose this weekend, the MAC will definitely get a 4th bowl bid. The reason is because there won't be any other bowl eligible teams left anywhere else so they will have no choice but to take another MAC team.
The thing that these bowls don't understand is that the top 4 teams in the MAC are better than most of those 6-5 BCS teams they are already taking.

I think you need a new source.
First of all, like Rocket said, there's a very good chance that there will not be enough bowl eligible teams without taking four or more MAC teams. Second, who do you think will play in the MPC Computer Bowl in Boise. There are three eligible WAC teams with three Bowls to fill (Hawaii, SVB and MPC):
Boise State - Likely will take Utah's spot in the Liberty Bowl
UTEP - Accepted bid to Houston Bowl
Fresno State - said they don't want to go back to SVB so will probably go to Hawaii
That leaves the MPC Computer Bowl in Boise wide open. Who else are they going to take?
Hawaii - has to beat NW and Michigan St first
Troy - they'll end up at SVB to play MAC if Fresno goes somewhere eles
CUSA team - I guess there's always a chance they'll have an extra eligible team but even then, are they picked over an 8-3 MAC team?

After this weekend's game a 4th spot will probably open, as will a spot for Troy State of the SBC. Interesting to see what is happening with the WAC and its bowl "tie-ins". Both Boise and Houston are going to non-WAC bowls and Fresno wants to follow. How do they get away with that? If I had the bowls in Boise and Silicon Valley I'd be wondering about their motives.

I sure wouldn't want to renew my contract with them when it is up if I was in charge of one of those bowls.

I'm not positive but didn't the WAC have a lot to do with creating these bowls and putting them in three of their cities...SVB in San Jose, Hawaii in Honolulu and MPC in Boise.

That's exactly the point - the only reason they have these bowls is that they basically arranged for them to be created, and then they want to say that "they're sick of going to this one"? We'll take it, and you can screw off.
If I'm the bowls, and the local team that the bowl was basically using as its ticket guarantee - and only reason for existence - I consider shutting it down if our team doesn't want to be there. They can sit at home and like that instead.

I don't think so. It'll take some real luck.
There are currently 54 teams eligible for 56 slots (not including Clemson and So Carolina). If 4 teams gets eligible this weekend, which I consider likely, we'll have 58 for 56, meaning two miss out. Who misses out? Probably 2 from Akron, Marshall, Troy, So Miss, UAB, Cincy.....and my guess is Akron and Marshall, meaning 4 MAC teams. UAB would probably be next likely.
If Arkansas or Syracuse get eligible, they whittle it down even further, and unfortunately probably take at least one MAC spot.
I'd love to see these greedy WAC teams - who are lucky to even have bids in the first place, considering they're all bowls they created on their fields - get hosed out of the process, but I can't see that happening. But I wouldn't mind going to Boise to play Ga. Tech - not the greatest trip in the world, but that's a good opponent, as opposed to Navy or New Mexico.

I would be shocked if the MAC doesn't get 4 bowl bids, with the big 3 from the West and Miami of Ohio from the East going bowling.

They must have an out in the contract, which is the bowls fault. Or the bowl is allowing them to go.

Don't bet on it. The 4th and 5th teams from the MAC is a hard sell. Too many things have to fall into place for that to happen.

GT and the MPC Bowl have agreed to negotiate to "bowl exchange" GT elsewhere. Something about GT being way the hell out west for nearly half a decade and going to Boise last year.....

Boise wouldn't be nearly appealing without Georgia Tech.

Sorry, Boise wouldn't be appealing if we were playing USC.

Right now, a minimum of 4 MAC teams are in. A fifth will get in assuming Tulane doesn't pull off an unimaginable upset of Louisville next week. Given the right circumstances, (Hawaii beating NU next tonight and Mich St. beating Hawaii next week), there will only be 56 bowl eligible teams in D I-A (the number of teams for 28 bowl games), which means all six MAC schools and two Sun Belt schools go bowling!

Looks like UVA is going to Boise... they declined the Champs Sports Bowl (Orlando) b/c of exams... and it looks like Georgia Tech will sneak into that bowl in their place.
